And Im good with that!!! I do and always did like JM.....Love that he and we will never know....Thats what makes this play so great!!.....Reminds me of a play when I was a Little League umpire....Close call at the plate..I called the kid out....His manager ran up to me..."How do you call him out?"....All I said was"Cus he was"....Was I right? Was I wrong?...Dont know so close...But that was my call....And it stood!!

 

You mean your little league didn't have instant replay??? What kinda Bad News Bears junk is this?! LOL.

 

LOL...No replay for this league....Just had to make the call and than stand by it!!...And I still do to this day....But it was so close....I could have gotten it wrong!!!............Point Im trying to make is.....maybe...IMR??????....Call goes other way....history changed....who knows!!!

 

I've ump'd some little league games myself. There is no more vicious fan than the parent of a 12 year old.

But when you made the call did the team that came out best storm the field and then launch a little league dynasty and do people still study the play to this day?

 

In tennis they have this "hawkeye" system where they recreate the path of the ball to show whether it was in or out, and players can challenge calls using it.

What annoys me, though, is that sometimes the ball is called "out", the player challenges, and the replay shows that the ball was in fact "just" in. But in by such a tiny amount that only a zoomed in replay can show it.

This annoys me, because there would be no human way a line judge could call that in, as they wouldn't be able to see it with the bare eye. So actually, the call of "out" was correct. If the judge had called it "in", then they would be calling something they hadn't seen. So, paradoxically, the call of "out" is correct, even if the computer replay shows that the ball was "in".

Yeah, I don't follow tennis at all, but every time I see that I think it has to be super controversial. Instant replay is one thing, because you are correcting your blatant mistakes. But erasing the human component and just relying on technology? I don't quite get that. I also don't get how the tennis "hawkeye" program works, and how they can be sure it's accurate, but I also never tried to learn.

 

No....I made the call and it was forgotten 5 mins later....I did NOT go down in Little League history.Oh well!!!

 

Such a shame... But we all still love you though.
