He was the only GM to attend the HBCU scouting combine. Looks like every team had a rep there but Khan was the only GM there. Not sure how many guys are drafted out of the HBCU. Historically black colleges and Universities. Will be interesting to see what comes of it.

Thanks for the info. No reason for Him not to be there....as long as He shows up at the other one.

There was a day the Steelers found a lot of players from that area including Blount Shell Stallworth Greenwood and Lloyd

Last year there were 33 players on 17 teams

James Houston from Jackson State was quite the rookie sensation a season ago for the Detriot Lions. As jeh pointed out, the Steelers have historically found success with the HBCUs; namely during the time Bill Nunn was with the team. I wouldn't mind if the team elects to forego a pick into that position again.

Who knows?! Maybe a player from the HBCU can have similar success in the same vein as Houston did for Detroit.

Yep. As there was a bunch of other teams interested.

17.5 sacks the last 2 years.

Andrew Farmer had a really good showing at the HBCU Combine. Farmer ran a 4.72, 38-inch Vert, 9-10 broad, and has spoken with 14 teams, per source. Patriots, Chargers, Browns, Commanders, Lions, Panthers, NYG, Titans, Bears, Raiders, Jags, Steelers and Falcons.

I wonder what the cross over percentage is with players attending both combines. If it's low then there is a high possibility of them finding some diamonds that other teams are passing on.

every team was represented there. The Brown met with an edge rusher. The Browns are going to be trying to find those diamonds in the rough because of that trade.

Yes but like the original post says Kahn was the only GM there. There is a difference between say a rookie scout being a teams representative at this event and telling his bosses that he likes players x, y, and z which they put in a maybe pile and having a top scout and GM show up where they take each report seriously because they were involved in it.

Farmer has great size too at 6'4" 260 lbs. He tore his hamstring really bad in his last year at HS and that scared away the D1 schools that were recruiting him. He went the Juco route and eventually to Lane College.

I honestly do not know where this kid will go, but unless a player has specific potential, the 4th through 6th are often used, sadly we do not have a 5th or 6th...sometimes you can get great value for developmental guys from smaller schools.

This might be a sign they're willing to trade back to get picks in those rounds.

When Eddie Robinson was coach at Grambling, it seemed like a lot of players were drafted.

Since Khan was there I wouldn't be surprised if some of the players get signed as UDFA.

I thought the purpose of the HBCU combine was a showcase for players who didn't get invited to the combine in Indy.

Oh I just assumed, wrongly I guess that players could be invited to the combine in Indy and anywhere else they get invited. Learn something new every day.

Tampa Bay took Doug Williams with the 17th overall pick in 1978. He was the first black QB ever drafted in the first round after playing for Robinson at Grambling.

We could use a Javon Hargrave type of player.

The MAC is another conference of where talent has been mined. The teams in Ohio alone like Kent, Akron, Toledo, and Miami-Ohio have produced top players in the NFL.
