With Worilds leaving and the jury still out on Jarvis Jones, here is a player I would like to take a look see on:
Tamba Hali. With his counterpart Justin Houston possibly getting a close to Watt type of deal Hali probably will be released due to his cap number. He still has some years left and is a player you have to game plan for. He would solidify one side for a few years. I would like to see James Harrison retained as a pass rush specialist. The OLB situation as of today is now a concern as is the secondary. I would rather see secondary drafted early but now this situation might change this draft.
Hali can come in and start right away and be solid.

It's VERY WORRISOME! Especially when you read stuff like this from Joe Starkey:

The Jones situation is worrisome. He was supposed to come to camp bigger and stronger for his second year. He looked exactly the same. Then he got hurt. Then he couldn't find playing time.

Don't look now, but Jones has played 888 snaps in his career, according to Pro Football Focus, and has come into contact with a quarterback precisely six times (three sacks, three hits), which is six times more than you or I have contacted a quarterback during that time.

This is my concern right here. Jarvis needs to become much MUCH stronger.

Maybe Harrison talked to him and told him he had to bulk up.

Interested what Howard Jones brings to the table next year. He certainly looks beastly.

I think he can't bulk up too much because of his back. That being said I would draft at least two OLBs in this coming draft.

    Round 1 OLB
    Round 2 CB
    Round 3 OLB
    Round 4 CB
    Round 5 TE
    Round 6 OG/OT
    Round 7 OLB

at least two more CBs, OLBs as undrafted free agents. We have to generate a pass rush because Dick Lebeau's blitzes are outdated and not getting to the quarterback.

I agree here. He"ll be a good reserve at best. Arthur Moats type. I hope not but that's what I see.

Someone should of known this watching his college tape. He rarely beat an Olineman and when he did beat someone it was a TE/RB or he just wasn't block.

If I can see that from my couch what are our scouts looking at?

I guess Jones should take HGH like all the other beefy LB'ers lol. Seriously though, he doesn't have to "bulk up" for strength purposes as strength isn't always correlated to hypertrophy of the muscle. However, if you want size + strength to have that extra momentum bull rush then he can definitely "bulk up" by crossing strength training programs and eating a whole lot more. He needs to have an offseason program with Deebo 1on1.

What people aren't thinking about is its only his second year. If he has another down year next year fine but he had two sacks and a forced fumble in the first two and a half games. He couldn't work anything upper body for 8 weeks and lost a lot of strength.

I suppose you can spin stats any way you want, but 3 sacks in 888 snaps speaks volumes for a LB that was supposed to be plug and play. There was a reason for his precipitous fall in the draft and we may be seeing that reason now. The fact is, he IS weak (12 reps @ 225) and he IS slow (4.8 40). Very disconcerting.

Sure can and considering most of the snaps came in his rookie year and after he came back from injury in year 2, it doesn't speak that much volume at all.

I think JJ would have had around 10 sacks this year if he didn't get hurt.

10 sacks? Sorry, just can't see it, Blast. I haven't seen anything that would lead me to believe he would have led the team in sacks this year, healthy or not.

Is that really what it is? I'm stronger and faster than that and I'm just a 36 year old weekend warrior.

I just discovered him today while doing some internet scouting and I really like his writeup and size. Looking forward to watching some tape on him!

Not sure about Zumwalt, at least for OLB edge rushing, but HoJo has me intrigued with those long arms and college production.

What are Worilds numbers over a similar sample size?

Why not? Given the way he started out, over a 16 game schedule, I see no reason why he couldn't reach 10, definitely no less then 8.

I still say the strip sack is BS. He got mauled and injured and Keisel actually knocked the ball out. So make that 2 sacks and no FF in 888 snaps.

I don't know what Harrison can teach him. He's not going to be able to get the bend and power move he has. His body can't do it! He's also not going to be able to put bulk on up top without having problems, which is why he looks the same coming into camp. He has to strength train without bulking up. I would have liked to see a bigger lower body giving him a stronger base though.

HoJo looked real promising. He's like Blake, they find a way to get to the ball. I loved his chop and swim moves during pre-season. He'll be stronger next year as well.

Nope, sorry, you're not powerful enough to alter his stats, FF stays on his record ;)

Yeah I know, worth a shot, but as Niterider points out, I can come close to his 225 reps and I'm 44. JJ needs to get much stronger, especially when I see videos of JH repping 405 lbs for the fun of it.
