Ben Roethlisberger on @937theFan won't commit that he will play next season. Implies he's open to retirement.

You have no idea what a special player we have on our hands. But if he retires, you will soon enough. If Ben retires, this team goes from Super Bowl contenders next year to hoping to make the playoffs.

He will be back next year, after a training camp and 19 games everybody feels like retiring, besides why not collect another big payday year, he has nothing better to do at age 34.....

hahahahaha. im guessing that most people that hope Ben retires were still sperm or babies during the days between Bradshaw and Ben.

you people have no idea how bad it was.

There's an idea , Ben's retirement would get rid of Tomlin sooner rather than later.

Yeah, and we're not just talking any farts. We're talking those long, winding, wet ones that send a person into a Frankenstein walk of shame heading toward the nearest restroom.

I thought that if we went to the SB and won it then he would retire along with Harrison.

Next season is it for a few guys I think.
    Window is closing.
With that Offensive talent they couldn't score 30 a game?

We basically averaged 25 a game but of course there were some games without Bell, games without Ben, and a game without Ben, Bell, or AB. Then of course some of those points were strictly Boz. So man if you look at the points we scored just on td's this year it might be considerably less. Still we HAVE to have more consistency regardless of who's OC or HC or RB or QB or whatever else. With the personnel we have we should be lighting it up week in and week out and honestly I think THE most annoying thing to about this team is just the inconsistency.

Ben's not going anywhere. He's just talking out loud after a disappointing loss, probably blowing off steam, maybe trying to get someone's attention in the FO. But he'll be back next year.

He used to be special when he was able to escape the pocket and buy time for the receivers to get open,( teams used to fear that the most about Ben) now he's a lightpost trying to force things in. He doesn't even check receivers down to see if they're open, instead of always looking for his fav toy as in Brown. He can't take the hits like he used to, he's getting back up slower and slower, he's a shell of what he used to be. The team can replace this version of Ben much sooner than the younger Ben. All they need to find is a QB who is willing to listen and has a full tank of common sense when it comes to getting rid of the ball instead of getting blasted all the time. I won't miss this version of Ben.

What's the point of making the playoffs when Butler will be giving in with the Zone D, they would have to depend on another team to knock out the cheats. Ben probably knows this too.

I don't know that "shell of what he used to be" is entirely accurate. All players age differently, and, depending on their particular style, more perceptibly to us watching them. Ben has always had the ability to bide time in the pocket - often while having defenders hanging off of him while doing so - that isn't a trait that's likely to hold up well to age, especially with some of the hits he has taken over the years. But that aside, his stats don't show much decline in performance. Over the past five seasons, PFR shows an uptick in INT% over the past two years, but his QB rating remains higher than career average, and - for those that hold stock in it (personally, I don't, as I have yet to understand what they use to compile it), ESPN's QBR has him generally improving, save 2013 (57.1) and this past year (66.6).

#s are going up cus they've shorten the passing game, ( Haley) almost anybody can come in and dump it off within 20 yards, this is how Brady's #'s are insane, most of his yards come from after the catch.
