New Steelers produced Renegade origins video for all yinz youngsters who don't have the 411.

Several years ago my son and I were at Lucas Oil Stadium where it was about 50% Steelers fans and somewhere in the 3rd qtr it came over the PA system but somebody responsible must have realized the mistake of playing it there and shut it down before the scream part but it was too late and many Steelers fans picked up on it and started singing. It was hilarious. My son still tells people about it often when we're hanging out with other fans. Chris Boswell hit a 33-yard field goal as time expired for a 20-17 victory after hitting the goal post earlier in the game.

I don't know how some Steelers fans don't like that song. It seems to work with the atmosphere when we need it most.

 

2021 game against Titans. Titans fans sitting behind us, Renegade was called on again, came on and they were like "this is why we came, we hoped they played Renegade" they were actually cheering and we won 19-13, with 3 field goals in the 4th.

 

The Hawkeyes play Back in Black as the team is coming through the tunnel and then Enter Sandman as they come on to the field in the swarm. The crowd loves it and gets everybody jacked. Couple that with "The Wave" and you get one of the best stadium experiences in college football.

 

Those songs sound awesome for football games. I do not like the song Renegrade. I don't go to the games so as long as the fans at the games enjoy it I'm cool with that. Our last SB win year I went to a pre-season game in the Burgh. I just don't see getting fired up with that song but I was in the minority.

I think the Iowa Hawkeyes look like the Steelers in uniform? Those two songs are awesome for football.

 

It's an old story but back in the day when Hayden Fry took over as head coach of the Hawks, he wanted them to look like winners so he modeled their uniforms after the Steelers. That was in '79.
