Well, some of them deserve to be fire sold. And I cannot for the life of me, other than his salary is low, understand why they keep bringing Shelton back. Leave it to them to keep a guy around that couldn't cut it managing a triple AAA team. I'm not laying it all at his feet, but this type of payroll means this team has to be damn near perfect fundamentally to win ball games and they were very sloppy, especially this year. Plus, they cannot develop young talent. I mean, Henry Davis couldn't even hit AAA pitching. Jack Sowinski showed some promise becoming an outfielder with power, but he can't hit the broad side of a barn with a two-by-four. Cruz? Hayes? Why aren't these guys improving?

I deleted it out of anger. We can use this to watch the A-holes crumble even further.

At this age I should not be so passionate about them. I really want to see one more Pittsburgh WS and it is not going to happen. Watching the Playoffs I clearly see the difference between them and us.

What really PO'd me was the KC Royals turnaround. Similar market team who lost over 100 games last season and now they are going to try and take down the Indians after sweeping the O's.

Hey, I'm getting a homemade license plate holder delivered tomorrow. I really wanted to put something bad but wife reminded me every car behind me will see it. It will be yellow (of course) and top will say, " NUTTING SUX" bottom will say "PIRATES". I golf with older Phillie fans and they want one more too. I envy the thrill they are having right now. They have been heart broken the last two years but I always tell them to "cheer up, you could have been a Pirate fan". It never helps their pain:)

It's because of my age the dismantling of a once great franchise has been on my mind. I cannot shake my connection to the Pirates

Not sure if I would call it an excuse. More of a reason. Supposedly, he was dealing with a quad strain all year. Okay, fine. THEN WHY THE HELL DID HE KEEP SENDING HIM OUT THERE?? Why didn't he shut him down? He had Chapman and Holderman. Then the Tellez deal right before the end of the year. He needed 4 AB's to trigger a $200k bonus and Cherrington DFA's him. Does anyone think for one second this didn't come from Nutting himself??? Then Benny boy has the balls to stand there and say it was performance based. :roflmao::roflmao::facepalm::facepalm: :rolleyes:. Then, why the hell didn't they DFA his big ass in May when he couldn't hit water if he fell out of boat? This franchise was already a laughingstock. This made them a worldwide laughingstock.

The only way things are going to change is if people stop going to the games, listening to them on the radio, watching them on TV and stop buying merchandise to the point it costs Bargan Bin Bob to lose his ass, and he sells the team. Because as it is, this team is a total cash cow for him. I remember reading somewhere after the '16 season that they were in the bottom 1/4 of the league in payroll, but still ranked 10th in profits. He doesn't care about winning. Never has, never will. Cherrington's job is to sell hope and he's good at it just like Neal Huntington was.

My dad was the biggest Pirates fan I ever knew in my life, and I mean that sincerely. He died in November of '93. So, fortunately he didn't have witness what became of his beloved Bucs. I can't imagine how heartbroken he would be, especially since he was so disgusted by the 80's with the drug trials, etc. It's really sad.

Watching this world series really drives home how bad the Pirates are. Horrible game manager, terrible owner, pathetic bullpen and on and on. The guys playing now are worlds better than the Pirates

Let it go. I was a loyal fan even through the bad years in the early '80s, but my last moment as a Pirates fan was when Sid Bream was safe to end the 1992 NLCS. I knew it was over before that series began. Letting Bonds and Drabek walk for nothing was the last straw. The Pirates are an organization that is not committed to win in a sport that is rigged in favor of larger markets. If they aren't going to try, why should I care? I don't root against them, but I haven't cared if they won or lost since.

I'm a Royals fan in MLB

The Royals rank 1 spot behind the Pirates in home attendance numbers. This past season we made it to win the Wildcard and made the divisional round. But the season before we lost 100+games. My thought is, as much as we want to win championships, each season is more about the journey than the destination. Yes, I know how cliche that is but for me it's the truth. You only get so many in life.
