The Steelers just signed Kazee to a two year deal and a guard from the Jets Nate Herbig for 2years/ 8 mill.

Get rid of that scrub Green and it looks like Edmonds might be done here.

At league minimum Edmunds would be good depth

    You always need depth

this is all good, I think - Edmunds can go unless he comes in VERY CHEAP and as a role player.

Now, focus on ILB, CB and that DL.

    Get MEAN, STRONG, NASTY

Nate Herbig is one of the guys I was thinking for in the trenches.
He's a big guy ~6'4 and sometimes close to 340lbs.
Without looking, he was a guy projected to be late 2nd round early 3rd round but really whiffed at the combine - something along those lines.
2 years $4mil/season... wow. They are seeing something I'm not.
    Maybe he pushes Daniels.

Interesting. Herbig has played more RG than LG, but does have some quality experience at LG. I’m thinking he and Dotson will compete at LG.

Edmunds is average at best. Can't see how anyone would invest big money for him.

Looking like the Steelers will probably grab a WR with one of the first 3 picks.

Still hope they go OT, CB and ILB... in no particular order.

Nice couple of signings on day 2 here. :applaud:

Herbig makes sense as he was with the Eagles prior to the Jets, Weidl is familiar with him.

I don’t think Kazee being back means Edmunds won’t be. I think they like what he brings at the right price.

Kazee also helps cover for the loss of Sutton. He has played in the slot. At the very least, he gives them a viable starter alongside Fitzpatrick. I still wouldn't hate bringing back Edmunds if they can get him cheap.

Daniels was our best Lineman, Dotson was the weak link

There's the sneaky Weidl OL signing. I love this. Under the radar guy but gets a lot of respect from coaches and teammates.

Herbig is so good he wasn’t even drafted 4 years ago! I guess it doesn’t hurt to have guys come in and compete but this is the usual Steelers bargain bin BS

What killed him at the combine was his forty time. I think they needed to measure his speed with a sundial. But he proved at 340 lbs he doesn't need to run 40 yards just knock the guy across from him on his butt.

I thought the Steelers were going to be players in FA once Ben was gone. Thanks ART you cheap bastard.

He pushes Kendrick Green out the door hopefully and makes Dotson a back up. Daniels is our best lineman.

Our CB room leaves slot to be desired, as you state Wallace is about the only talent.

If you think they are going to overpay for any free agent that's not the way they do business. Middle tier free agents to help and build through the draft.

The 22.5 mill guaranteed to Sutton ended his tenure here I feel. It is a disappointment but the secondary is now going to have a shake up. The Peterson signing and committing 2 years to Kazee starts the transition.

Herbig was a Weidl recommendation. He played for the eagles for 3 seasons then the Jets. His nickname is "Nasty". I like that kind of party.

Donnie Shell, James Harrison, Ramon Foster, and Alejandro Villanueva are just a few examples of former Steelers who were not drafted. I get that you are determined to **** on almost everything the Steelers do, but that particular argument just makes you look like you don't know what you are talking about.

Agreed. I don't mind signing Peterson, though I would have preferred that they re-sign Sutton. I like bringing back Kazee and Herbig seems like a decent addition.

My problem is there was this very deep group of free agent inside linebackers and almost all of them have signed elsewhere. Many of them did not break the bank, yet the Steelers continue to sit on their hands. The Titans signed Azeez Al-Shair, the sort of speedy inside linebacker the Steelers need. The numbers aren't available for that one yet. The Cardinals signed Kyzir White for only $11 million over two years. The Steelers have a much better chance of addressing their need at inside linebacker in free agency than they would in the draft, yet they aren't getting it done. Bringing back Spillane to team him with Robinson and Jack just isn't going to cut it, but that seems to be where the Steelers are headed. Bobby Wagner is still there, but I can't imagine they are going to go after him.
