As always, Dobbs looks good against guys who will be out of the league in a few weeks. :)

Haskins was just okay. Rudolph made a couple of decent throws, but overall, he had a rough night.

I've been very concerned about cornerback since they cut Nelson and I saw nothing to change my mind tonight. Layne is terrible. Pierre wasn't good early. They may be a little better off in terms of replacing Hilton. Brooks looked good.

Others pointed out that Spillane played poorly. I think Gilbert was even worse. Maybe Spillane will look better once he is paired with Bush.

I’m going to have a good belly laugh if Dobbs makes the team :lolol:

I agree with your whole summary :steelflag:

Dobbs is good enough to be a 2nd string QB on a team playing against guys, at that point in the game, that won’t be on NFL rosters. Perspective.

As I was watching I was thinking: "I'm assuming they're playing vanilla for the preseason."

Then I realised I think that every year...

I know it was late in the game. But Dobbs looked like a veteran last night. He seemed more confident in himself than normal. IDK, maybe it was just me.

Laugh, then pray Roethlisberger stays healthy because that would mean the quarterback situation behind him is even worse than most people thought.

He really does know how to shine against guys who will be pumping gas two or three weeks later.

I am surprised at the number of people who already know this (or should know this), but still complained that the team didn't open up their playbook in order to win a preseason game.

Agree with all of that, though wouldn't say Rudolph had a rough night. He converted a couple 3rds and Claypool dropped a perfect pass on another.

Re: ILB, I think Williamson gets a call. He's nothing special, but he knows the D and is better than anyone not named Bush on the Steelers.

Pierre isn't ready for prime time yet, Layne is going to get cut. He's awful. Hopefully Sutton is ready to play outside fulltime.

Correct. Dobbs is in his 5th NFL season he damn well better shine against guys who are struggling through their first couple of weeks of training camp.

I turned to my wife and said, "Isn't Pacquiao like 80??"

She looked around the room as if to find who I was talking to. Then she said, "Are you talking to me? I only watch foosball (that's what she calls it) to see their butts. Why would I watch boxing? They wear loose shorts."

    Ahhh, marriage.

The only thing Layne seemed to do well last year was his work as a gunner on special teams. Brown might have made that a little easier with his work on special teams last night.

    Buck & Aikman were aweful.
One of the worst telecast games ever imo. Why can't they interview the Hof guys at more appropriate times?

It's called the HOF game for a reason. It's more about the ceremony than the game. If the Steelers weren't playing, we would have been more interested in them interviewing our legends than listening to the play-by-play. Then you and I would be complaining that they didn't give our guys the time they deserved.
