The Steelers put all their eggs in a 37+ year old basket, and the basket broke. Now the basket looks like it's full of fried chicken and birthday cake.

So 1 game decides an entire career?

Lynch was a #1 pick. Denver traded up for him.

Not many did. The OL reverted back to its JV form tonight and the only thing that saved Hodges was his mobility. It didn’t really lead to any production but it saved us from disaster. Hodges benefited from improved OL play and a running game the last couple weeks. I will give him credit he made a few nice throws and he had the guts to pull the trigger. The truth of the matter is his WRs made quite a few outstanding plays, another thing that wasn’t happening for Rudolph . Right now it’s hard to have confidence in either guy. The benching of MR was justified. I just don’t think the overboard criticism of him and the overboard praise for Hodges are justified either.

Well they really didn’t have much of a choice but I still feel they could of played a little hardball with his contract.

WOW, he's not starting next week if he didn't listen to Tomlin.

Mason doesn't throw the ball unless the check down RB is open.

I know it was a gamble. High risk, but if it worked out, high reward. They were willing to trade up for Bush, trade #1 pick for Minkah. They know how to make moves, why not try it for a QB before the contract extension.

Big Ben is golden in primetime at Heinz, most of the time.

They could of tested Ben’s commitment to playing and to the franchise. It’s not like the franchise tag is chump change. You’re supposed to pay a player based on how you think he will produce in the future ,not for what he’s done in the past. His age should of been taken into consideration. IMO he didn’t need to be making 33mil for the next 2 years...

If thats true, have to bench him. He doesn't have the clout to pull that garbage.

Hodges played like I thought he would and worse yet, he has a gunslinger attitude without the talent to back it up. He missed a streaking Washington right in front of him for an easy first down on 3rd and 7 that probably goes for a TD but chose to throw it into the endzone into double coverage for an int.

Then the last int after Tomlin told him to clock it? I sure hope he didn't get that communication.

I agree, but based on the amount of time it took to get the extension done, he was negotiating for what he got. Maybe they suggested the tag as an option and he wasn't having it. Just speculation, of course.

To be fait that wasn't a double coverage look. He was the deep safety and probably should have been rotating over to Washington, but Hodges stared it down. Had he pump faked to washington he doesn't come across.

We needed another shazier type at ilb. A free safety even worse. They did trade up for Rudolph, Ben's possible replacement but Mason needs more time. I'm going with that.

It's not a pass he ever should have made. Washington was the play there.

I would’ve called his bluff. Think we’d be sitting a lot prettier right now cap wise. I know it’s hindsight but why wouldn’t the same expectations of loyalty be placed on Ben like everyone else around here during contract time?

'Possible replacement' is right. Mason seemed more like a contingency than anything else, same with Dobbs. Projects. I get what you're saying though.

..but, oh what I wouldn't give right now to have Kordell Stewardess or Tommy Matchbox behind center.

Ben should have gave the Rooneys a discount. He just is too into himself to see it would have helped his chances to get back to the SB.
