Official Steelers vs 49ers Gameday Thread

First half in the books. A big part of this game is the inability of the offensive line to give Mason any time to throw.

Look, we have NO running game. We have no playmakers on offense. Ju-Ju cannot get open and for that matter, no one can get open. Add to that mix is that when Mason does have some time, he is off.

Again, and again, I'm not expecting anything with this game or in the weeks to come. If Mason is going to take over long term, then we are going to have to live with the growing pains not only with him but his young receives and the young guys on defense.

I've sat through a bunch of QB's over the years waiting for them to get their footing and Mason is no different. It's not like we are in first place and need the win for the division title here.

Someone needs to go back and take a look at Ben's first 6 games and his stats remembering that he had one of the top defenses in the league at the time too.

Time will tell but you have to give these kids a chance.

Great call. First start, an away game, against a good defense. Plus it’s not like any Steeler team in the last 10 years has owned any teams west of the Rockies.

Maybe some max protect instead of emptying the backfield. Splitting our RBs out wide is basically making the D have to play 11 on 10. Losing McDonald hurts big time and our fears about our TE depth are real. Shallow crosses and more timing patterns to free up the WRs

Mason has had his woes but it is not all on him. Others have to step up in the Second Half. For that matter, could we get the running game going?! Has that been put on hiatus?!

 

On the road, being pressured...he’ll be fine.

 

I can't see any good reason why he wouldn't be there, so I agree.

 

As bad as mason has been, I’ll be more rational now. Previous posts are right. He has had very little time to throw. O line has been cheddar.

Yo know what will really suck? Finally the defense becomes a top 10, turnover generating defense, and our offense flip flops and becomes bottom 10. Would have been nice to see what Mason would do with a #1 RB and #1 WO. Not sure he has either right now.

 

Try running some rub routes like the Cheats. hell, they get away with it, right?

Conners not producing but we seriously need to run the ball more one way or another.

 

Hopefully the defense can keep up the attack. That Minkah... can flat OUT play!! Devin Bush also showing up today with two Fumble Recoveries as well. So far so good for the defense.


Let us hope this performance can continue.

 

Can we have Mason roll out and flood a zone with receivers, at least may give Mason a run opportunity. 49ers know he is dropping straight back every time with no side to side movement and collapsing the pocket.

Hell even though the run game is not working, try play action, maybe it will confuse them.

As tomlin suggested though it's tough to get a running game going when the passing game is crap.

Yup it feels like the Steelers will in no way hold down the 49ers in the 2nd half unless they can get another 4 turnovers.
