Steelers brought their JV offense.....no, scratch that.....their freshmen offense, and still outscore that Cleveland all-star bunch.

    "Pittsburgh started it"???
    No, Pittsburgh finished it!!!!

He had no shot to get to that ball. The interception was on Hodges. The problem with what Johnson did is he allowed a huge return because he gave up on the play.

It looked to me like Johnson ran the wrong route on that play.

That may have been the worst of all the terrible calls today. He did absolutely nothing worthy of a penalty there.

The botched call on the punt downed at the one was ridiculous, too. Even the great catch by Landry for the Browns in the first half was shaky. It sure looked like one of his feet had come up off the turf by the time he secured the ball. I don't see how that was enough evidence to overturn it.

If he just contests that ball instead of giving up on it then he possibly breaks up the INT. He ran the wrong route and quit. The huge return was a result of that as well.

That is possible. It is also possible he ran the right route and Hodges misread the play. I'm just talking about what happened when the ball was in the air. It was going to be intercepted no matter what Johnson did, but giving up on the play allowed the big return.

Sometimes your pessimism is actually painful to read.

The Steelers could certainly lose that game, but damn, enjoy a great win for five minutes.

U mad? I am enjoying the win, but Steelers stunk it up out west with outstanding skill position players for many years. Now we have a bunch of 2nd and 3rd stringers starting. Maybe that is the key to victory in the west.

I'll have to watch it again, as far as it being intercepted no matter what Johnson did.

He’s not correct. Johnson is there with the defender if he doesn’t take that stutter step like he was going to stop or cut in. You see him do it then realizes the ball is already coming. At that point there’s no way he catches up and Is even close to at least breaking that up!

the DB doesn’t make that hitch and just keeps running through to the catch point.

I just took another look at the interception of Hodges. I still don't think Johnson could stop it, but he was closer than I thought and maybe he could have made it a tougher catch for the defender. Either way, there is no excuse for giving up on the play there. At the very least, it allowed the big return.

The defense did an amazing job forcing the Browns to punt there. Edmunds made a great open-field tackle on Hunt and Hargrave collapsed the pocket for the third-down sack that knocked them out of field goal range.

I also watched the next drive for the Steelers again. I don't know how that hit by Richardson on Hodges is not roughing the passer, but the one by Dupree was called. Richardson led with his helmet and slammed into Hodges after the ball was gone. I was too busy being annoyed by the incomplete pass when Hodges should have run with it or seen Washington wide open.

This is just a conspiracy theory but maybe he can't help it - if you read the fine print on the food labels it says "Heinz-Kraft" Mustard, and you know what that could mean. Just saying........

    Hey steelersrule6.

Good post. I am not sure where it came from but I first saw this through you. What a transformation to our "D". I think there are several catalysts in place here that have created this "Wrecking Crew":

    • Minkah Fitzpatrick
    • Bud's light (no pun intended) finally getting turned on.
    • Maybe Butler's light getting turned on also?
    • The D-Line playing lights out which in turn has a domino effect on the middle and back half of the "D".
    • And other reasons I am sure.
