Smith in a monkey suit (ravens uni)? Who cares. The guy has been a hell of a baller throughout his career but never was one who had me on the edge of my seat when playing against us. Flacco owes his payday to Boldin going up and fighting for his lousy passes. I don't think Smith is gonna bail him out a whole lot in that area.

Exactly. He's more deadly to the Steelers as a Patriot than as a Raven. Huge difference in who is throwing him the ball.

Flacco owes a majority of his payday to Boldin. Smith is intense but he isn't nearly the caliber of Boldin.

I don't think its that strong. if you ask me the pats are reaching and trying everything they can to hide that THEY haven't drafted well the past few years. people want to bash us. look at their past few drafts. talk about our 2009 draft. a buddy of mine who loves the pats informed me that in 09 the pats had 13 picks and if edleman leaves I think he said 2 are left and they are back ups.

I HATE NE with a passion! But apparently it doesn't matter how much of a turnover that team has. The genius (and I use that term loosely) will find a way for that team to compete.

Saw an article recently that broke down every team's draft pick participation for the last 10 years or so. NE had the 2nd worst in terms of draft picks who had starting snaps in that time frame.

yeah. I gotta say if you draft 13 players in one year you should hit on at least half. he said they had 4 second rounders. I don't know but if true that's horrible.

Maybe you're right. But the last few seasons have shown that consistency is hard to achieve in this current NFL. Teams leap up for a year then disappear. Only a season or two ago Houston were considered a lock for play off contention. Denver have had a fair bit of reloading... no guarantee it works.

I wish I had the patience and knowledge to check but I would be willing to bet the teams that are very active in free agency are not successful long term

I've been calling NE out for poor drafting for a while now. They've hit some home runs like Gronk and Solder, but on the whole they have survived by 1) having a top 2 or 3 all time QB, 2) a crafty head coach who plans very well to counter his opponents' weaknesses, and 3) most importantly - having 3 other franchises in their division that have collectively resembled the 3 stooges over the past decade. They have been successful in acquiring other teams' players, but they have had some failures going that route as well. When Brady retires, they are in for a major fall off IMO. Bellichick is a great coach, but he won't be able to keep things going w/o Brady.
