That is one thing I won't put on Pickett. The play-calling on that possession was horrible. Once they got the completion to Pickens, the next play should have been a run with the ball in Warren's hands. The Browns had been great defending the screen all day long. That just ruined the entire offensive series.

late in the game they weren’t even trying to run Warren. They tried him on screen passes twice, but they got stuffed immediately.

    They got scared after that.

That is what I wrote. He had time on all three plays. Johnson dropped the first one. I have no idea what happened on second down. Either Johnson or Pickett blew it. The third down is all on Pickett.

I'm not arguing that. I'm just saying that the situation he's in is not conducive to success.

beyond what I mentioned, from a high level perspective no franchise in the NFL has more cap space spent on the defensive side of the ball than the Steelers. That in and of itself tells you something.

Holy crap I’m going to say it once again. Check your math!

for the love of god we started with the ball at our own30. Getting 3-9 yards does not put us in field goal position. It puts us in position to kick the longest field goal in both nfl and college football history

Tomlin defended the 3 straight throws the last series saying they wanted to get into FG position......you needed to also manage the clock.....there was plenty of time and running the ball was in play.

Warren only carried the ball nine times today. Yes, failing consistently on third down was part of the problem, but that isn't nearly enough.

It tells us our defenders are on their second and third contracts.

They're stuck with him until next year. MT is an okay backup, but he turns it over too much. Do they dare try Mason? Doubtful, though why not?

The answer is the draft a QB next year.

Drafting Harris and Pickett set the team back 5 years. And by the time the offense is fixed, the defense will be old.

    Not good times ahead.

I think he was talking about the drive before that, when the completion to Pickens gave them a first down at the Cleveland 40.

If KFP continues to play like this and we let KFP play all next year, something is terribly wrong with the Steelers FO!

Yes this offensive line for some unknown reasons absolutely sucks trying to set up a RB screen, either the RB doesn't chip the linemen or the O Line just let their guy go immediately and KP has no time to throw the screen. Further his lob passes suck balls!! The whole 2nd half it seemed Warren gets a series and well we have to bring in Najee or he will be mad and we need to share the rock so put him in even though Warren had momentum!!! Amazingly stupid.

KFP is a laughingstock right now. All the sports talk shows are going to have a field day thus week at KFP expense .

I had to laugh when the broadcasters mentioned the Steelers coaching staff taking credit for Cleveland drafting corners, to stop our wide receivers.

Really? You don't think they were thinking about Chase and Higgins?

Don't disagree entirely, but I think the play calls is a product of a guy they have little to no confidence in him.

Don’t forget “component”. He’ll use that word and probably “juncture”. Idiot winked at someone in the crowd last week after we eek one out against a crappy Packer team. Total clown.

given we're near the bottom of the league in defense it tells you the FO has not spent their money efficiently. It also means they value defense more than offense relative to the rest of the league. It's not surprising the offense is near the bottom. You've spent at the bottom on it.

This is the drive that ultimately decided the game.
    • 1st & 10 at CLE 40
      (5:06 - 4th) (Shotgun) K.Pickett pass incomplete short left.
    • 2nd & 10 at CLE 40
      (5:03 - 4th) N.Harris left guard to CLV 45 for -5 yards (O.Okoronkwo).
    • 3rd & 15 at CLE 45
      (4:22 - 4th) (Shotgun) K.Pickett pass short right to J.Warren to CLV 43 for 2 yards (Z.Smith).
    • 4th & 13 at CLE 43
      (3:35 - 4th) P.Harvin punts 29 yards to CLV 14, Center-C.Kuntz, fair catch by J.Proche.

They lost the game on the tying FG. They needed a TD on that series and Picket took a bad sack to kill that drive.

Need to open the playbook, live and die with Picketts mistakes because they are delusional if they think they can go anywhere with this conservative approach.

He’s talking about the possession before when Pickens made the great catch at the Browns 40. We had first down at their 40 and lost 2 yards over the next three plays

    Yup.

But they can't because he panics at the first sign of pressure.

Or it means we have a lt on a rookie contract, two running backs on rookie contracts, 3 tight ends on rookie contracts, two wide receivers on rookie contracts…
