Pickett’s decision making is below the line. He has no physical attributes that wow you at all. Joe Montana didn’t either but his football intellect and decision making were second to none. If Pickett has neither the physical attributes nor the football intellect to be successful, we need to keep looking for our next franchise quarterback. I couldn’t be more disappointed in how this season has played out for Pickett. I had high hopes coming into the season that he was ready to take the next step. Instead, he’s regressed badly.

 

Pickett and the Playcalling reminded me of games when Ben was out and the QB may have had some abilities and weren’t used.

Here's the other thing - no one can claim the Steelers can win because they're facing backup QBs, they just lost to a guy that didn't play all that well.

Bengals have far better skill players
Colts have a better QB
Seahawks are a better team than what the Steelers faced today
Ravens are a better team than the Browns today and will be playing for a possible 1 seed.

Still not sure 9-8 isn't the ceiling.

I think Muth is fine, along with the receivers and rbs (yes, even Harris). Kennyi is the weak link and neither he or Canada do each other much favors.

This is the type of thing I'm talking about. There's just no feel for game flow from Canada. And Pickett doesn't appear much better when it comes to his progressions. You have to know as a QB who your 1, 2, 3 is by design, but then adjust based off of what's occurred during the game. Sometimes the 3 becomes the 1 on a play. Then you've got the o-line inconsistencies. At times they look great, at others like a group of rookies first teaming up.

The whole offense is a mess. There's no one thing that can be blamed; it's a collective mess. And that's a shame because there's some talent there as well. Enough that they shouldn't be looking this bad.
