I have Dani Dennis-Sutton as my highest rated player remaining overall, and Nick Singleton is certainly a great choice.

I also think it's possible that the Steelers take a chance here on Cole Payton and his immense athletic ability, but I believe the Steelers come away with two WRs in this draft.

    my vote goes to:

    Ja'Kobi Lane WR USC

Dennis-Sutton and Lane both have top of the 3rd round grades so either one here would be a good value.

It is crazy, I keep seeing Taylor Green going at the end of the 3rd round now. I thought he would be a 6th or 7th round pick at best. Some of these QB gurus are now claiming he is the 2nd best QB in this draft.

I still like North Dakota's Cole Payton more.

The Steelers need to draft a QB as soon as possible here.

We still have the 4th round comp pick coming up. As for Taylen Green I wouldn't think of drafting him unless he switched positions.

We could use a TE, there is nothing behind Muth and Washington. Thoughts on Raridon?

ND always has good TE’s but then disappoint in the pros.

Sam Roush from Stanford is still available. 6'7" 267 lbs and ran a 4.70 at the combine. Mostly a blocking TE but did catch 49 passes for 545 yards last year. His great uncle is Merlin Olsen the HOF defensive tackle for the Rams.

His knock is he has a lot of drops and can't get open.

    Weakness
    • Drops are a legitimate concern that showed up consistently on tape. Too many catchable balls hit him in the chest and bounced away, and at times he shortened his arms when defenders closed on him at the catch point. The hands grade needs to improve significantly.
    • Blocking technique gets loose when he widens his base too much at the point of attack. He lunges forward, drops his head, and winds up on the ground on reps he should finish. To his credit, he showed the ability to self-correct at the Combine, adjusting quickly on the sled after getting high initially.
    • Route breaks lack the snap required to create immediate separation at the NFL level. He relies on length and positioning more than crisp footwork to get open, which will be a tougher sell against linebackers and safeties who can match his size.
    • Ball tracking on deeper throws is inconsistent. He misjudges landing spots too often, either pulling up short or running past the ball, which limits how much a coordinator can trust him as a vertical seam threat despite the explosion numbers.
    • The 74.3 passer rating when targeted is a below-average mark that reflects both the drops and some inconsistency in creating genuine separation on his routes. NFL defensive coordinators will test whether that number improves against tighter coverage.

    • Two torn ACLs on the same knee creates real medical red flags that team doctors need to dig into before anyone commits draft capital to this kid.

I do like the idea of the Steelers going TE here.

Now, My choice for the Steelers would be to bring in a future replacement for Muth. I am happy with Washington being the GoTo TE on blocking downs. The fans love for Muth got him his current contract, not his play on the field.

    Jack Endries TE Texas

    Summation:
His career tells the story of a walk-on who earned everything and kept getting better. The receiving game is already at a level where he can contribute early as a pass-catching tight end, and the blocking has trended in the right direction each year even if it still has a ways to go. Endries is the kind of player who figures things out over time, and if the strength comes along at the next level, there is a path to being a three-down starter down the line.

Not a whole lot of value at TE here. I’ll go with double dipping at WR.

I still want my QB. So I am throwing my pick away and going Cole Payton QB.

    AI
The Pittsburgh Steelers met with North Dakota State quarterback Cole Payton at the 2026 NFL Combine and hosted him for a pre-draft visit, showing significant interest in the "sleeper" dual-threat prospect. Payton impressed with a 4.56-second 40-yard dash and a 40-inch vertical at the combine, drawing attention as a high-upside mid-round option.

With Aaron Rodgers I see Cole Payton as a Day 1 starter in the GL/tush push offense, and playing a little Slash type role during his rookie season.

    The Projection
Payton will draw comparisons to Taysom Hill because of his mobility and the way he was used early in his career. But that’s not the best comp, given Payton’s exponentially higher ceiling at the quarterback position. Some NFL teams believe Payton might have the highest upside of any quarterback in this class. Those teams view his development and value through a two-phased lens. Phase 1 is to get value out of Payton in short-yardage and goal-line packages early in his career. And if developed properly during the first phase, Phase 2 is to let him compete for the starting job a couple of years down the road.

Ok, let’s get this going again, see if we can get to the Steelers next pick before the draft.

    Jakobi Lane is the pick.
