I am thinking either Charles Grant, T, William and Mary: https://www.nfl.com/prospects/charles-grant/32004752-4139-6159-b4c5-6d62ea8e73e4

Or maybe Jacob Parrish for the nickel: https://www.nfl.com/prospects/jacob-parrish/32005041-5267-4843-a152-d47e7453a745

Grant is a guy who seems to be made for a zone running scheme and per what I’m reading has the length to play T (7’ wingspan) and the nimbleness and lower body power to be a G in a ZBS. He’s a fit and has versatility, which is important given the many questions on our O line. Replacement at T if Brod flames out? Maybe. Replacement for Seamalu in 2026? Maybe. Worst case he’s likely a first guy off the bench swing tackle.

Parrish is a nickel type of corner who is a good tackler and has legit track speed and the quicks to deal with shifty slot receivers. Beanie Bishop did some nice things, but was really exposed in man coverage.

a few thoughts about some of the players being discussed:

Savion Williams had a 12% drop rate per PFF (FWIW). Anyone remember Hakeem Butler? He was a hyped up 6’5” WR prospect with great metrics, but the knock on him was drops. He never got over them. Or more relevant for Steeler fans, remember Limas Sweed? Personally, I balk at a guy who has a lot of drops in college as a WR where catching the ball is job #1.

Cameron Williams gave up 5 sacks and 18 hurries at the RT position last season. I’m now seeing that he was 370 lbs and slimmed down to his current weight. To me taking him with our limited draft capital is like spending your last dollar on a lottery ticket.

As someone else noted, Tuten is known as a fumbler. Pass.

I could get on board with a QB here. Maybe Howard. Maybe Shough. Maybe McCord. So far from what I’ve watched, all of those guys need work. McCord is the most advanced in terms of NFL readiness, but he puts the ball at risk a lot and I know Tomlin hates that. Will he be that same guy with a coach who is more focused on telling him what not to do, than what to do? I am skeptical.

For now my vote is Charles Grant, OL, William and Mary

Fair point (though the reports I've read put his drops at 10%), but given his history (QB in HS, didn't see more than 30 targets until 2023) and usage I'm taking that number with a grain of salt.

I'm not crazy about any of these options. I definitely don't want a quarterback. I want Savion Williams even less. There are far better receiving options still available.

If these are the options, I vote for Giddens. The pick fills a need and he would make more of an immediate impact than William's or Howard would.

At least Tuten will contribute as a RB and KR this year. Howard will be an inactive 3rd team QB standing on the sidelines in street clothes all season.

Not sure who'd they be outside of maybe Jaylin Noel, who's basically this year's Roman Wilson.

Williams is a boom/bust prospect, but as is adds a dynamic layer to an offense that needs a boost in that arena, with the upside of developing into a formidable every-down receiver.

I woke up this morning to see Seattle has taken my 3rd round QB in Qwen Ewers.

I guess that swings my vote to QB Will Howard.

With the QB room of Mason and Skylar, you have to take a QB that can compete for the Starting job immediately.

We'll find out more in a couple of weeks about how teams feel about Howard. If some team takes him in the second round then they have plans for him to eventually be a starter. If he falls to the 4th or later then they are looking at him as a backup to fill out the QB room.

Tuten might contribute in some way, true. Warren and Gainwell are already kick returners. Patterson is a kick returner. Are you certain we need another? We already know that each time he fumbles it will be his last carry of the game because he will get sat down. We have witnessed this before. But he is fast.

Patterson was the worst KR in the league last year. Warren was only back there because Patterson was so bad at it. You are right about if Tuten fumbles in his first game then you wouldn't see him again for a very long time.

Nope. Which is why the impassioned speech seemed out of place to me.

My original comment on Tuten's fumble issues was just that. A comment on his fumble issues. I don't see the need to expand and explain on my vote. I honestly don't care if it wins or not. I think I voted for aDB at 21 and a DL won.
Next pick is 123. I'm going punter. We need a third string punter.

Sorry I guess I got carried away. You or nobody else has to explain your pick to me it's your opinion and it is just as good as mine if not better.

Don't know that I would've called it an impassioned speech, but if it was, so what? I get passionate about this team on here at times, just keep it respectful.

Your comment on Tuten was snarkish. If you're going to dish it out, be prepared to take it.

The way I see it, it comes down to a potential long term answer at QB or a backup RB.

Thats not a hard decision for me.

    I'll tie things back up.

I vote for DJ Giddens RB Kansas St

Giddens is a good complement to Jaylen Warren, who I don't believe can be an every down #1 RB.

The Steelers also have Giddens scheduled for one of the 30 allowed pre-draft visits, so there is interest on our part.
