What is there not to like about Nick Cross at Strong Safety? A big man with Speed.
    upload_2022-4-12_15-7-55.png
    SCOUTING REPORT: STRENGTHS
    • Elite athlete with elite speed (4.34 at the combine), impressive leaping ability excellent explosiveness
    • Former track athlete who ran the 200-meter-dash in 22.27 seconds and a 60-meter-dash in 6.97 seconds at high school
    • Has ideal size for the strong safety position and shows major physicality as a hitter
    • Has long arms and has a great defensive catch radius
    • A natural ball stipper - caused a number of fumbles
    • Rare hand-eye coordination and agility, vision and third gear to make a living in the return game.
    • Has good football awareness to read and react quickly and stay balanced and patient in space.
    • Speed enables him to be a decent man cover player - especially on deep routes
    • Has the natural athletic talent to contribute - and make an impact on special teams
    • Good agility and balance when shadowing his target. Competitive player.
    • Physical run supporter in the Antoine Winfield mold with short-area explosiveness to leave his mark on ballcarriers.
    • Savvy using his hands to get to the ball without drawing flags. Willing tackler and high-effort leader.
    • Anticipation skills and explosive, downhill burst could make him a star in zone-based scheme.

The highest rated safety left according to Pro Football Network is JT Woods from Baylor. He's 6'2" and runs a blazing 4.36 forty. He is one of the top ballhawks in the nation with 7 picks last year but he is a free safety. If you are looking at some of the strong safety's left there are:
Leon O'Neal Jr. from Texas A&M
    Bryan Cook from Cincinnati
    Marquese Bell from Florida A&M
    Yusuf Corker from Kentucky
Smoke Monday from Auburn is probably the most physical, hard hitting safety in the draft but he needs a lot of work in defending the pass.

Yes, he was the first DT that I mentioned on my list. He can really get after the QB with 7 sacks last year which is a lot for a college DT.

I see him now; would be a great value pick as most reports show him going in the 2nd round.

I like Safety, Tycen Anderson, but not in the 3rd.

Yes, Anderson is 6'2" 210 lbs and runs an amazing 4.36 forty. Also Smoke Monday would be a reach at pick #3. The reason I mentioned him is that he is such a violent weapon against the run game and we play two teams that love to run the ball in the Browns and Ravens twice a year.
Besides it would be cool to hear the announcer say "and Lamar Jackson is limping back to the locker room after being smoked by Smoke"!

Between two positions for me, safety or WR. I have to see which is the best value there.

Metchie's torn ACL in December probably means he will not see the field at all in 2022.

    Bryan Cook here.

(Note, I still think Edmunds is coming back and we need a WR in the first 3 rounds so this is making less real world sense to me...)

Value was too good for me to pass on..... Besides.. to quote coach Cowher. " you can never have enough good CB's"

My official vote goes to David Bell, WR, Purdue..... while I see a need for a safety... we still have Karl Joseph on the roster.... and he's played more SS than FS in his career..... with the departure of JuJu, and possible contract drama with DJ..... we absolutely need a WR. Just my humble opinion (although..... I might have gone for Nick Cross had TTF not scarfed him up).
