good to know, thanks. I have been relying on write ups a lot this past month which sucks because my internet took a hit. Bad time of the year to move to an area with no high speed.

I'll vote for Brooks, not sold on two defensive picks to start our draft, but I see Brooks ranked higher than Peart overall, so BPA.

Two more for Brooks, looks like he has it.

7 Jordyn brooks, ILB, Texas Tech
    1 Ben Bredeson, OL, Michigan
    5 Matthew Peart, OT, UCONN
    2 Matt Hennessy, OL, Temple

Boy, you guys don’t like Ben. If this plays out like this in the real thing, I’m going to throw my shoe through the TV and hope it hits one of you.

It just occurred to me who Jordyn Brooks reminds me of: Jon Bostic. Bostic was overdrafted by the Bears in the 2nd round, and has been an NFL journeyman ever since. Good enough to be a temporary starter, but not good enough to hold down a job. If this is the pick, it's a very bad one IMO.

I think you can go back through the history of the Steelers voting for our mock drafts. They are usually infuriating. :lolol:

You can find 200 players per year with good highlight reels. What counts is how they play on ever play, not just the 1-2% of plays per year that make the highlight reels. Just sayin.

Exactly this. Those highlights serve to get your attention which is important. But deep diving into game film is where the crucial details. Gotta know how they played against their best competition.

Anyone can rack up impressive numbers against scrub schools which tends to be a good sized chunk of alot of teams' schedules.

I agree that it is infuriating. Do I think NT and ILB are the teams two biggest needs? Nope, not by a long shot.

Do I think that the players we chose at those two spots were BPA? Yup, by a long shot. Our second round pick was a mid to late first rounder, our end of the third round pick was an early to late second rounder. Will they be available when we pick in the draft? Nope. The question is, should we have ignored them because they won't be?

Good observation. If he does end up on the team, lets hope he is more Darius Leonard and less Bostic.

I can't dog him for that. I threw out Alton Robinson, didn't vote for him for the Steelers, and picked him two players later for the Rams.

Not throwing any names out yet but the position should be offense. No way they’d go defense their first 3 picks.

Keep doing BPA at this point. If the best player available is defense, especially a free safety or edge rusher, you still go that route. If the Steelers end up with a defense that neutralizes Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and Baker Mayfield, and the offense can muster 20 points a game, I can live with that. In the real draft, my hope is one of the top RBs is there at #49. I do agree, if everything is equal, take an offensive player with this pick.

I disagree. Brooks was BPA but such a mistake IMO, Peart was 10 times the value there and more potential to be an impact player.

Don’t live and die by those rankings, I saw some projections with Brooks going in the 4th and Peart 2-3.

They already have a very good defense, offense needs more help.

Blast, I appreciate your thoughts, but when you say "Peart was 10 times the value there" at pick #102, you can't tell me Brooks was the BPA. If Peart was 10 times better value, he should also have been the BPA. My point is, if an edge rusher or free safety, is "10 times the better value", you still draft that player over an offensive player. Given that the pick is #124, there are no longer any players that are 10 times the better value, I agree an offensive player should be the pick.

I'm very comfortable saying that Brooks wasn't the BPA at that spot after watching his games last year against Oklahoma and Baylor - two of their toughest opponents. Why was he the BPA? Because some of the online draft "experts" ranked him high? Because Gil Brandt's rankings said so? I like Gil, but take a look at how well his rankings have held up vs. reality in recent years, especially 2017 (ouch!). Sorry.... I'm not picking on you, I just have a thing about various expert rankings being taken as gospel at draft time....

He wasn’t my BPA, some ranking made him that. The position itself makes Peart more valuable. OT are more valuable and harder to find.

And the rankings I did see, all had Brooks late 60, early 70 and Peart around 80. Not a huge difference. What about the projections of Brooks going later in the draft than Peart.

Like I said, don’t live and die by those rankings. They get blown up every draft when you see where they actually get drafted.
