I think it is time to give Mayock these hands.

I saw that. What a slight. The kid is productive, comes from a great football family, and has great measurables. Sure sounds like an unspectacular second rounder to me.

Watt is a perfect fit for us and just scratching the surface as a defender. Fairly new to defense, but I read that one Wisconsin coach thinks he'll be better than his brother! Can learn at ROLB splitting time with Debo and give us different looks in sub packages too. 6'5" 255 and ran 4.6. He's a stud!

I'm just glad I didn't waste my time staying up for someone like Kizer. Holy **** that made my night though.

    A+ versatility for a 3-4 OLB no less .

Pittsburgh has really valued these versatile athletes since Ryan Shazier blazed himself to us.

I agree with them. .I think he is a 2nd rounder..I would have taken Foster.....I don't see that explosive step with Watt.... but im pulling for the kid hard now, I love that NFL network said nothing after the pick. Even now on nfl.com they got Mayocks take on everyone but Watt. Nfl network take on TJ.... was a tweet from JJ.... thats it

Me too. I know that was inadvertent on his part but maybe like a mass PM or something could be sent out by mods or TTF telling everyone that wants to participate in this thread is not allowed to post spoilers. Just a thought. I don't even know if that's possible really. Or maybe like a PSA thread on the main page.

Those guys are pretty frickin unimpressive. One of them was consistently mocking Kizer to us at #30 - never mind that we never even talked with him.

What's not to like about the kid even if he was taken a bit early? So what?
He'll have much to live up to and he does need work.

    Love the pick / pedigree

All the more reason I told Blast to not even worry about them.

It is like he told me about Mark Madden:

Ignore the "draft experts" (i.e. Lance, Bucky, etc.) .

Keep in mind that some of those guys were wrong about Artie Burns (even Mike Mayock). Three takeaways state otherwise while still learning the position.

Watt is a Kevin Greene clone, just switched to the right side. Salt and Pepper back in the Burg!!!

We all thought Artie Burns was taken way too early last year and he proved us wrong. T.J. has a great work ethic and is a talented kid. Even if he's a bit raw you know your going to get 110% effort out of him to become a great player. Plus we have James Harrison and Joey Porter two of our all time greats at the position and Bud Dupree who's just went through the same process a few years back to show him the ropes.

This team has enough immaturity issues and distractions... We didn't need Foster's potential baggage added to the mix. Hopefully we got a player who is a no-nonsense, high character guy.

Doesn't work. it's already been noted that for some reason the ESPN coverage was off vice what other people were watching.

I had ESPN and NFL network going and they were off by a couple of minutes at times and the websites were posting before the announcement. If the NFL really held these things close you wouldn't have that happening.

It happens. Try not to get upset about it and move on. If you're reading the board someone had had to have gotten the info and took the time to type and you had to refresh to see it.

imagine if GB would have picked him... The NFCN would be on notice per Mayock.

I heard yesterday that the browns were trying to move up to the 2nd pick in order to draft trubisky and garret

I have a question what are some of the sites/apps that you all were getting updates before it was announced. I was so pissed sitting here waiting for them to announce our pick I couldn't stand it.

As for our pick I think it was good I am not upset with it. Welcome to the Steelers TJ!!!!!

If his shoulder was not an issue, the ravens would have him. He will need to slow down some mighty tough RB's in the NFL each game..
    Will his shoulder hold up?

Still mad after all these years.

Michael Francis "Mike" Mayock NFL Draft‎: ‎1981‎ / Round: 10 / Pick: 265.. After being cut from the Steelers, Mayock was signed to his first pro contract with the CFL's Toronto Argonauts during the 1981 season....

Even if he is a "2nd rounder" whatever that means, that's only 3 picks later than we got him.
