Teams are going to keep sitting on those short routes, until the Steelers make some adjustments.

Right on, last week and the WFT game were probably the most he's been hit all season. It's almost as if he's lost his nerve.

Didn’t have one for the last 3 games. Don’t need one now.

Essentially treat Ben like a backup who can’t win a game for you only lose one
    • Ben under center
    • 55-60% rushes
    • Play action
    • Ben on a throw count; less than 25
    • Only time I better see a pistol is if Ben gets so tired of run plays he puts a gun to Fichtners head

Here is the offensive game plan for the colts game. A copy from Fichtner's desk was given to me by the janitor.
First down: bubble screen left to JuJu for two yard gain. second and eight,
Second down: from the shotgun, hand off to snell who runs directly into decastro's ass, stops and falls forward for a one yard gain. third and seven.
Third down: Hit johnson on a crossing route two yards from the line of scrimmage. Johnson catch's the pass and goes to the ground right away after a two yard gain. fourth and five
    Fourth down: Punt
Rinse and repeat. Mix it up, do it to the right side. Keep doing it till the defense gets tired.

The offensive game plan should be to have some offense. That would be something new.

There are simply no answers at this point. The OL can't block, Ben can't throw the ball downfield. Maybe put Ben in the no-huddle to start so the D can't substitute.

Their typical scripted crap will lead to 3-and-outs and/or turnovers.

Until Ben can and will stand in the pocket for a count of three, nothing will change. The route tree means crap. The only guy that is quick enough to make a move in two seconds is johnson, so that's why Ben is throwing to him. I hope Dotson can make a little difference this week. Ben playing scared really handcuffs RF and the rest of the offense. I'm not to sure but think Ray Ray could help with the quick route throws. He and Johnson have the quickness to make one move and expect the ball. That is wishful thinking. This line has to come up with a better game.

They don't only run short routes -- there are receivers running various depth routes on every play. Ben is choosing the short option almost exclusively.

    Game plan should be:

    1. have a different plan that works - what we've been trying isn't working
    2. play balls to the walls like a title is at stake - team has played without the passion that the Bungals did
    3. win and rest vets until game 1 of the PO's - while the coaching staff dusts off the game plan from previous game since it worked once, it'll work again. .

MT said he isn't changing much so this thread, to me, is wishful thinking from members who probably have more insight as to what we need to do then the MT coaching staff. JMO>

As we all have seen opposing defenses have figured out this offensive and I mean offensive game plan.

Its a little late in the tooth to resurrect the dead and revamp.

We can only hope that phyllis throws a ton of picks and they are returned for TD's. He has a multiple pick game in him.

The offensive plan should be bring in somebody who knows something about offense. Tomlin you're a defensive guy. That would be why next year you bring in someone who understands offense better. It's ok to admit that.

I am hoping for something akin to Inigo Montoya saying, "I know something you don't know - I am not left handed!", and the Steelers roll out a new look that catches people completely flat-footed. A guy can dream.

Keep matriculating the ball downfield. Keep that Hines guy on the bench.

I think Ben has a bounce back game, 280 yards 2-3 TDs

Just find a way to win defensively you can’t rely on the Offense but hey if it gets too bad open tryouts for the entire fan base of Pittsburgh will be eligible for the team

Normally, one would say get the run game going and the rest will open up.
While that still a sound game plan I would coach, get it to Claypoole and the rest will fall into place. Go to him first and constantly, force the D to cover him and good things will happen.

They started, too late in Cinci . He just about broke one and it turned our O around and led to our only TD. Get Claypoole involved!

Sounds about right except for on third down Johnson drops the 2 yard cross

Put in a qb that can throw deep when that play is called. When other teams swap personnel to run the wild cat, we could do it to go deep. Ok we see mason rudolph has entered the game on third and one, this could only mean one thing. The Colts have changed personnel to their prevent defense now. Ok tony, what do you think they will do?:cool:

Run a slue of 3 and outs and then try to catch them off guard with an occasional first down.

The Colts are ranked near the bottom in pass defense, giving up 300
    Bump
