We put up some nice stats, but we seem to be middle of the pack in converting TD's in the Redzone.

This has sort of plagued Ben's career. He was at his best in the Redzone early in his career when he had the Bus, the ultimate slot WR in Ward, and a young Heath to act as a security blanket for him.

Our line has come together, we do have RB's when healthy, we have receivers.

What can the Steelers do to improve in the Redzone.

At this point in his career, can Ben improve in the Redzone?

I honestly think getting Bell back healthy will impact this. Couple that with another year of experience for Bryant in the system as well as upgrading the TE position depth, and I expect our numbers to improve.

    Except when we're 3rd or 4th and 1.

Is it me or does it seem that this could be said after every season for the last decade?

    Find a Gronkowski type TE.

This has got to improve, but it never has under MT/ Ben. A real head scratcher.

A TE like Gronk would be awesome.
2016 may be Heath's last season. Jesse James looks like he could be a good player for us. Gonna have to draft another starter quality TE in one of the next couple drafts.

I agree a prime time TE in the Redzone would be good. Heath doesn't have it anymore.

As good as our line is, they aren't road graders in the run game. Their zone blocking scheme doesn't help that either.

I feel if we could replace Wheaton with a more consistent slot receiver it might help as well. Someone like Ward who has great hands and knows how to work shallow space.

I haven't looked at the stats but I wonder how much better play selection could improve this as well.

    Actually we improved in scoring TDs in the redzone in 2015, we ranked 13; and in 2014 when we had the 2nd ranked scoring offense we ranked 19, I think the correlation between the two years was the fact we scored TDs in 2014 before we crossed the 20 in the red zone, this year we ranked lower at 13, which seems to indicated we didnt do that badly in scoring TDs in the RZ, or most likely didnt get there as often here is the redzone scoring rankings by year;

Thats like middle of the pack range... We need to break the top 10.

We have the best skill players in the league...doesn't make sense we aren't higher?

Yes we can the key is formations .The problem as I see it is to many multiple TE sets .WE need more 3 and 4 WR sets to spread them out and have the ability to run and throw .k

Seems like we haven't been good at any types of screen plays in years.

Well unfortunately the RB screen that worked for so long during the Cowher years is hard to run nowadays... Players are just too fast.

WR screen don't work often enough... you can run a good amount of them in a game and may only hit one over 10 yards.

Hunter Henry Arkansas TE is the top rated one in the draft, not sure if the Steelers will do that in rd 1.

Well the pats hit pay dirt with Gronk, they took a chance on him coming off of back surgery and drafted him in the second round, the truth is if gronk didnt have the back surgery he would have been a high first rounder and would have been off the board when the pats drafted in the 1st round, and it's doubtful if they would have traded up to get him, but lets face it, how many 6-6 265 pound guys have the athletic ability that gronk has, he was sensational in his rookie year as if he had been playing the position for years, hard to find another tight end like him....

If we don't go DB in round 1 I'll be very surprised...

...though thinking about it, perhaps not completely...

I won't be surprised if they don't, the fans thought they would go DB the last 3 seasons in round 1.

The last 3 seasons, how about not drafting a corner in the 1st round in 20 years, Chad Scott drafted in 97 the last time it was done???

If we get a "road grader" in place of Foster and the likely hood of using Jessie James more we should be able to put the pull in the endzone more.

Ben struggles in the red zone. There is less place for his receivers to manouevre after plays break down and a greater reliance on set plays.

    That's just my opinion.
