    2023
    MT and Pickett
    Overall rank: 23rd
    Total Yards: 5488
    Yards/Game: 322.8
    Passing Yards: 3411
    Pass/game: 200.6
    Rush yards: 2077
    Rush/game: 122.2
    Points: 308
    Pts/game: 18.1
    Pts/game(last 9 games): 20.9

    2022
    HOF QB
    MT and Pickett
    Overall rank: 23rd
    Total Yards: 5361
    Yards/Game: 315.4
    Passing Yards: 3778
    Pass/game: 222.2
    Rush yards: 1593
    Rush/game: 93.1
    Points: 343
    Pts/game: 20.2

We literally took no step backwards this year moving from a HOF QB on his last legs to a rookie QB and a revamped O line. We have a more balanced offense and actually scoring more per game over the last 9 than the 2022 average. Not to mention far more upside.

    That's really an unfair comparison......
You're basically comparing a rookie to an over the hill, but savvy QB, which has absolutely no baring on anything...
If you're gonna compare anything, than it should be their career arc

The most unfair part is we haven’t even played the 2023 season yet.

The improvement in the run game is key for me. That helps any offense. Last year run game was 30 yards less per game compared to this year.

the points per game being better last year, to me, is due to experience at QB. Hopefully Pickett gets that over the next couple of years.

Yeah I was hoping that our numbers would improve in 2023 but they look the same as the year we just completed.

So the OP predicts Canada will still be calling plays. I need a drink and it's only 6 Am.

2023? I did go fishing yesterday, and I did have a few swigs of shine and I fell asleep under the tree.
    How long was I out?

I'm using the logic that you cant compare a rookie to an established veteran..

It is an accurate comparison to see what happened to the offense from last year to this year. We performed equally if not better from an output perspective and have a QB with an upward arc versus a washed up QB with little future potential. We didn't take a major step back replacing Ben and based on the last 9 games this offense is improving and more balanced. This is a big positive. Most assumed the offense would be worse this year.

It was worse this year, 2 points per game worse. The fact that we had a much better running game than last year makes it even worse. A stronger running game should have helped our offence, but we were still 2 points per game worse. Now I get that Pickett didn't play the entire season and musical QB's didn't help the situation but the team still only averaged 18 points per game when Pickett played.

He's a rookie who showed a lot of promise so I cut him some slack, but to say we were better than last year just isn't true. Our running game was better, but as a whole, our offence was worse. Either way, both years were pretty terrible in terms of offence.

The fact that our running game didn't improve until Tomlin forced Canada to make changes makes me wonder why Canada hasn't been fired yet. 2 bad offensive years in a row and the head coach had to step in to make changes. Absolutely no play action despite a good running game down the stretch too. That's maybe the worst of it all.

Except You are leaving out that 2 Qbs combined only had 12 passing tds, and 14 ints...not counting the fumbles....., and last year the old washed up Qb without Pickens, and as good of a OL had 22 passing Tds, and only 10 ints....in one less game. He only played 16.
    Other than all that....

Reminds me of the classic caveat we were given the first day of Engineering School - never confuse or substitute precision at the expense of accuracy. Very precise stats but way off on the timeline accuracy. Remember - he who laughs last...........didn't get it. :smiley1:

Here is my fear. Maybe what you see is the OC's ceiling for any offense. Rookie....HOF. No matter what you get about the same. We added to better Olineman which led to the better rushing. Went to a rookie QB which shows the worse passing game. That being said....our scoring got worse.

Look, there are pros and cons to what we do. The slow methodical march down the field can help control the game and allow teams to not be able to attack us. That being said, when you 3 and out over and over against a team like KC or Buffalo, the game can get out of hand quickly and there is just no way without some explosive play ability to get back. We had very few explosive plays that led to fast TDs. Look control the ball for 12 minutes....great, but you have to punch it in at the end. Even looking at our first possession Sunday....great job until we go to the end zone....then nothing. It changed the way the game felt until we finally kicked it into the end zone.
