Complete negative as it always is when starters go down. Hate those 2 key players got hurt . On the positive side of that their BU'S didn't play terrible.

Safety play not very good as playing Center fielders , on the flip side they played above the line in the box .

CB'S still too much cushion not a true #1 in the bunch , but better play overall as a unit.

Dupree and J.J. both had a nice game .We started showing that 4 -3 look and these guys simply just play better out of it .

Ben and AB looked great seems to be a common theme ,hope they can both stay healthy.

Williams made some nice cuts and showed vision and Power a nice #2 to have no doubt .

Archer close to breaking returns he may do some magic for us this year. He appears quicker and more decisive.

The WR unit is one strong unit we have some guys who might not even make the roster who could probably be a 3rd. or 4th. option for most Teams. Watch out for the Panthers when we cut they need help at that position. If we lose Murphy because we keep Landry I will be beyond upset. FKCI will be my new chant .

My final thoughts are we have some serious FirePower on Offense and if we can convert FG'S to TD'S 30 points a game is very obtainable .The 4-3 with the 1 gap system is our future . I think we have all the guys we need up front to play it right now. The big Question is what the hell are we going to do on the back end ? Special Teams are going to be solid I like the direction they are going. Overall a good game and super stoked to see Football Season back in swing.

If Grad's injury is serious, there's more chance of Landry sticking around and roster spots becoming that bit harder to earn. Sucks but it's true. It would be interesting to see Murphy lining up at QB against Carolina, though.

A common theme this preseason has been opposing tight ends being uncoverable by our safeties and linebackers. We've given up TDs to TEs that were just silly in terms of badly the coverage was blown, and we're not talking about TEs like Gronk or Graham. Butler needs to be working on that coverage deficiency.

I didn't watch much, but the secondary on the first drive was awful. Not sure who's assignment it was but that long Jordy Nelson pass he was standing all by himself..... if we have to endure a whole game of that kind of inconsistency...... then it could be a long season.

The backup punt returner (#82 I think) was slower than me at 45 years old.... just go home dude, you aren't going to make it.

Coates and Phillips.... might want to spend some time catching footballs..... hands of stone worse than Limas Sweed.

The DB was Blake. He didn't have a great night.

Coates' hands were reported as an issue before the draft, I believe. As I said in a different thread I think, both he and Phillips are just a little inconsistent right now. Phillips can do the circus catches, but some of his more straightforward catches and adjustments he didn't make.

I was intrigued as to why they kept Doe (the punt returner) in - I'm sure he has no chance whatsoever of making the cut. Just a body to avoid injury?

LJ had a good game, 172 yards 2 TDs and 1 pick, his improvement is noticeable and he should only get better the next two games, of course he is going to stick around, with Ben and Haley coaching him up his progress is noticeable and any player who puts on the black and gold gets all of my support....

So we've got Bryant, Coates, possibly Phillips and Brown to do the straight line speed.

Then Brown (again), Wheaton, Archer and possible Murphy to do the running around underneath.

    You have to like that.

Yeah, I agree - I was more responding to PWP's point about dropping Murphy and keeping Jones.

I think I may have turned into an LJ supporter simply by virtue of getting tired of all the hate he gets.

If @niterider@niterider has to play, our season is over anyway.

Not if @niterider@niterider comes wearing that suit he has in his avatar. My guess is he could play both offense and defense... :)

He did look slow, but mostly hesitant to me. But in all fairness, I didn't think the blocking was all that great. A couple times I saw nothing but packers in front of him. Probably couldn't decide which way to go...."Do my left ribs hurt more or my right.." Lol

My observations are they finally turned these guys loose and let them rush the QB, they had 6 sacks by 6 different players vs the Packers :applaud:. I thought Shamarko looked good and Ian Wild looks like a player, HoJo showed up and Dupree showed why he was a first round pick. DeAngelo Williams looked like he can still play Phillips and Murphy scored TDs. Grant seems like he could be a 5th CB.
