A lot of fans here, don`t like the idea of "Running back by committee"...
Looks like we are about to take the same approach to the O-line...

I dunno... I know we are hurting, but can Decastro possibly be ready to face the Ravens in his first NFL game, after injury?
Is it a better idea to put Pouncey at guard, than center?
    Should Legursky play at all???
Does this kinda sound like Tomlin, trying to make an effort to show he`s making changes, instead of just "rolling with the flow"?
I remember during the Clown`s game, arguing with my son-in-law(basically), about benching every back, that fumbled...
I thought you should show a little faith, and give them another chance(Mendy Proved me wrong on that)...
But, basically, does this seem like Coach T is reacting to criticisim about his lack of "Coaching Skills"/"making adjustments", or actually doing what he thinks is best to make an improvement?
    Thoughts?

The moves are necessary and will without a doubt help. Legs struggles at guard he just doesn't play there as well as he does when he is at center. Think back to the game where Pouncey was out. It was one of the best rushing games they have had this year. I have no worries about if Decastro starts he will get help from Legs no matter what and if he holds his own then maybe we can have guys getting to the second level. Pouncey is the most athletic lineman they have and will be able to play guard with no problem and will help Legs at center and be able to get out in front on runs plays. As Mac has been sayign having Decastro and Pouncey at guard will really allow them to pull and get to the edge. I think Dwyer has a monster day and just pounds the Ravens into submission.

Thanx for the reply, Thorn. Hope you`re right.
Just seems kinds funny to me, how most posters are saying we need to pick a runningback, and stick with them, but here,
With the O-line, it just seems to be "put the best available out there, natural position be damned..."
Where, to me, the O-line would be more of a unit that needs to "gell", get used to playing together, etc...
And there isn`t a whole lot of discussion about it.
(Yes, I saw it mentioned in a few other threads, but they are pushed way back, right now, and this announcement was just made today, which actually says they made a couple moves that various posters were advocating for...)
Anyone else want to chime in?
    (Sorry, GPGUY...,
you replied, while I was typing... Yeah, that is one of the threads I was thinking of... but still expected to hear more ppl talking about this issue)
EDIT... also, just saw JackAttacks thread about if it feels strange to have Pouncey moving to guard.
    Sorry.
Didn`t mean to step on toes, or start multiple threads.
Guess what needs to be said has been said...

Now go stand in the corner!! Haha

And as a side note. When it comes to the RB by committee versus the OL...I can see the reasoning about gelling and such...but OL is an oft injured position and guys need to be able to play where ever in some cases. And there are certain players no matter where you put them they should be solid (like Pouncey). Where RBs a lot of times need to "get hot" to be able to pick up momentum/etc.

    I think that makes sense...

I'm not sure if it is really running back by committee that I don't like...If each one has his roles it works quite well: The starter, the reliever for a series or two, and the 3rd down back.

This year Tomlin has just gone with the hot hand, and trying to figure who that guy is within a game is dangerous because by the time you find out it might be too late.

I don't like how much swapping the Steelers do in all phases of the team. I believe it takes a couple reps in a game in a row to kind of get into the groove. For example, why should Heyward only get a snap here or there. Why not give Heyward a whole quarter or half and give him a chance to get a rhythm?

Same can be said with RB's. Go with one guy and let him get a rhythm. I know this is not related to the original post...

As far as oline they are kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place with the injuries. I can't believe how out oline gets decimated every year by injuries....

Well it is about time....It is very clear that Doug is better at Center than he is at Guard, he blocks very well on inside runs and he looks to be a lot stronger than Pouncey...Then when you look at Pouncey the best parts of his game are blocking in space and pass protection...So just as I have stated for a long time he has more value as a Guard and he will help the OL more from that spot...

With good pulling Guards and being able to run our Power running game both Dwyer and Redman will do very well...IMO that has a lot to do with Mendenhall being dropped to 3rd. on the depth chart,,he is best suited to run outside which means we need great blocking from the tackle and WR spots....We really don't have that and is the reason why Mendenhall can't get going...

I will be relieved to have Legs at C instead of G...I have never seen Pouncey play G so I have no idea what to expect from that. So, if DD plays, does he replace Foster? Can we put Foster at RT? I really, really dont like Beachum!!

Never mind, I just answered my own question - the PPG is reporting that Foster practiced at RT yesterday!!
