i don't really care how much they raise heck or don't raise heck about the O as long as they make it work. we haven't had this much talent on the offensive side of the ball for many a year. i hope they come together with it quickly. the same with the defense. we have lots of changes going on, but butt loads of talent. 7 rings would put a little buffer between us and the others. :-D :rawk:

    Yes you were. Again.
That's funny, because I would have said the same thing about a couple people...except that they found it unacceptable that everyone doesn't agree with them. It seems that there are a couple of posters who think the entire site should applaud them every time they spin something into a 'I hate Ben' thread (which is every handful of threads it seems).

Furthermore, it's pretty ironic that you keep ringing the same bell about it not being OK to have an opposing point of view, when you continue to express those opinions over and over. And over. And over. I bet there isn't a visitor to this site who didn't know exactly how a couple posters felt about BR a few months ago. Yet here we are in another thread.

Lastly, because I took your post personally, I'll lay out exactly how I feel about the topic. I don't like being labeled 'a blind fanboy' or 'carrying Ben's water' because I don't lap up every tabloid-esque, out of context quote that gets spun out during the offseason. I'm a fan of facts and logic. Generally speaking about the theme as a whole though, I get annoyed when people run their mouths with half truths, and also when people say the same thing over and over. Two of the common themes with those 'discussions'. I would say that the 'Ben hate' isn't what frustrates many (can't speak for everyone) but that it's a) the droning repetition and b) the numerous threads that get derailed by it. You don't see ANY threads that are hijacked out of the blue with 'hey, isn't it great that Ben didn't get charged in Georgia over two years ago?'. To the contrary though, threads are hijacked with similar opposing statements.

I will say that I do applaud you though, Shaner. For a while I did think you were just blinded by hate, but I've seen in some of your posts that that's not the case. And, you always keep your arguments civilized and free of personal attacks, which is commendable.

I have to go to a funeral so only have time for a very quick reply. I don't want anyone to agree with me when it comes to my hatred for Ben. I'm outspoken and like to share my opinion on Ben (which is quite often negative), but I never considered that derailing the thread. I mean it is Steelers related right? It's your site, if you want me to tone down the anti-Ben talk, I will. It's frustrating for me hating a player so much who is the star of my favourite team. I've never been in this position before. It makes me mad that one of my least favourite players in the whole league is the star of my team.

It just feels like I'm always on the defensive when sharing my opinion of Ben. I've been called most names in the book, told I have no common sense, and many other things. That stuff doesn't bother me, I'm a big boy I can handle a little heat just fine, I'm just saying it seems like those who hate Ben and share that opinion get attacked. I can't ever remember someone getting blasted on this site for saying something positive about Ben.

I'm not blinded by hate at all, but some of the things Ben says really seems to me like he's pouting and taking small jabs at being forced to change. I can't stand that attitude from a 30 year old professional athlete. Anyway...

Nope, you're free to voice your opinion as always.

I think a certain amount of snarky comments from Ben is to be expected. He was the person closet to Arians on the team and they were by all accounts friends. I liken it to when I was growing up and working at a restaurant where my brother was the kitchen manager. When they let my brother go and brought in a new manager I got on board and acted professionally for the most part but it didn't stop me from making snide remarks now and again especially in the early going when it was still fresh and my co-workers kinda expected it and took it with a grain of salt as I suppose the team is doing for Ben.

That seems to be the prevailing sentiment from most of the O-line and players on offense in general. I mean look at Johnson happy he's installed as FB so he can work on his technique and reads from that position. Even Heath commented on Johnson on how that's going to be great for him, because he was just thrown in there at times with no prep at that spot. With those kinds of comments from everyone else, Ben's just stand out and make it an easy target. Sort of the low hanging fruit.

Yeah, I like that these guys are learning so much for the first time in their careers. It really shows how bad of an OC BA was that these guys are seeing so much information for the very first time. I also like that there won't be any more comments from Ben saying "I don't know why that play didn't work." That's not a jab at Ben either, that's the fault of his coaches. A dog doesn't understand the word "sit" unless you teach it. Ben isn't going to understand how the running game works unless he's taught, and it really appears he was never taught by BA. Although I think it's going to take a few years for Ben to truly grasp the X's and O'x of the entire game of football (not just that playground crap he ran under BA), I think this year will be so much better than last year.

i just hope he realizes they are doing all this for his sake. they are giving him protection. they are giving him highly skilled talent around him to make this run smoothly. he doesn't have to do it all. the quicker he realizes it the better. he needs to get into team first mode.
