November 6th game vs Ratbirds

Not sure if this was disscussed did anyone catch the missed ball spot on the Ravens Opening drive touchdown that was called back?
On the opening play of the game. Raven started from the 24 yard line. Ray Rice runs to the endzone and has a touchdown called back for holding. That is a 10 yard repeat the down penalty. They are once again lined up on the 24 yard line with 1st down and 10. They should have been lined up on the 14 yard line with 1st and 20. Right???
If anyone has that game taped check it out. I know it doesn't change the game score but we got screwed on that play!

 

I think this was discussed. On a holding penalty the yards are marked off from the spot of the foul and not the original line of scrimmage. The hold occured 10 yards down the field hence the ball came back to what was basically the original LOS. It does screw with your head though because normally an offensive hold occurs in the trenches resulting in the 10 yard loss behind the line.

 

when the holding call is past the line of scrimmage, the 10yd penalty is enforced from the spot of the foul. In this case, the foul happened 10yds past the line.. there for it was marched 10yrds back to the original line of scrimmage.
