I'd first like to clarify my earlier post about drafting some qb competition. Not just to motivate Ben which in my opinion would clearly make him work harder both on the field and in the film room. I just can't get over the last game in which you know your season is at stake if you don't win. You think a Peyton Manning, Brees, Rodgers or even Brady would have blown the field position our D gave us in that game off those turnovers? Yet we pay these guys millions and that is what we expect from them now and again. I was around and remember the non-playoff seasons of the 80's until pretty much Ben arriving. I don't want Ben benched, that's not what I'm getting at. A good young hungry qb would motivate Ben to stay on top of his game I guarantee it. Also going into next year if Mendy is to stay he and Tomlin need to work out their differences as well. He clearly is the most talented of our runners and should start week 1 next season if still here. Just a little frustrated as I'm sure alot of fellow Steeler faithful are. Some of these players are well overpaid in my opinion and should play like they are capable of is all I'm getting at. I've always been and always will be a Steeler fan. Sorry to ramble on but needed to air some laundry!

Sorry, I think Ben is a gamer and it kills him to have a bad game and lose. He doesn't need motivation, he needs an o-line and sure-handed receivers.

you added Brady as if he was an after thought. Brady and P Manning will go down as 2 of the best if not the 2 best qbs to ever play the game, but both of those guys have blown it plenty of times. lets see Manning has 1 ring and Brady has 3. Ben has 2. not bad if you ask me.

im not going to say Ben is better than Manning, but why does Ben have more rings? maybe Ben is more clutch than Manning when it counts. Manning is having a great season, but lets see if he can finish it.

the 1st ring for Ben he had a miserable super bowl game, but if you remember, which most people tend to forget or not mention to try and make their point seem more valid, Ben had one hell of a playoff run. he also finished the season strong and if he didnt they wouldnt have even made the super bowl. he also made the game saving tackle after Bettis fumbled going in for a td in the playoffs against P Mannings Colts.

in his 2nd win he should have been the MVP after leading one of the greatest game winning td drives in super bowl history and making not 1 but 2 perfect passes in the corner of the endzone to Holmes. luckily Holmes caught the 2nd one.

Ben will never have the same numbers as the 4 guys you mentioned, but he will be right there with them in the 1 stat that counts. super bowl wins.

If we had "like" buttons, I'd be mashing it right now.

:this!: The skill that make QB's like Ben, Brady, Rodgers and Peyton winners is the ability to lead comeback wins. Ben has something like 30 of them, if you have a QB that can't do this, you're not going anywhere because all teams find themselves in a position where they have to lead their team down the field for a win. Ben couldn't do that this year and look what happened. What happened to Peyton in at least one of his SB's, couldn't lead his team down for a win at the end. What happened to Brady last year? Couldn't lead his team down the field for a win. Even those two aren't constantly clutch, no one is. So people can keep all their gaudy numbers, I'll take the guy that is clutch, Ben will need to recapture that if we are to continue to win SB's.

you have to admit ben has had the best defense of either of the other two for a much longer time. that doesn't hurt. i agree scott chab and sometimes he tries to win it himself to a fault, but that goes with the fire to win.

I agree but would add one thing and it's a biggie. Ben needs to do a better job of preparation. He has admitted himself that he' s not a big film room guy and that shows on the field at times. His days of physical dominance are coming to an end and he needs to elevate his mental approach to the game if he hopes to have success in the second half of his career.

I agree but I think if he had a strong o-line and receivers that could catch, he would have more confidence and be able to focus on the things you mentioned.

It's a domino effect. Correct a few things and a lot of other things get better.
