Not drafting CB'S is why we see what we do now

And I still think that we would have gone for Fuller had the Bears not taken him... no sense in trading up, as we needed too many positions filled, and MLB was an area of concern as we didn't know what we had in Spence.

The issues with the team can't be put on one thing alone. The HC, not picking CBs high, Ben's weird performance... they all play a part, but their impact can be limited if the other parts are also functioning well. This is why we play so Jekyll and hyde at the moment.

We might not have known what we had in Spence , but I am sure we knew what we had returning at CB and the shape or lack there of Troy... I am also sure that we knew we would have to beat Brady or Manning to win a Super bowl.

The conclusion I draw is I am not even 50% sure this Team would have took Fuller . IMO they value the Front 7 way to much and have left the pantry empty on the back end. This Team needs at least 3 CB'S that can start as well as a SS and a FS , their is no excuse to need that much on the back end in a passing league..

If this was 1945 or something fine , but in the new Fantasy Football League where all QB'S and all WR'S are touch me not's you must have Great DB'S and we go out there with practice squad players ...With this current Team a lock down CB would be worth 2 or 3 wins extra at least a season .All these 8 and 8's where avoidable but we chose to not be aggressive in the draft year after year after year...

Colbert should not only be fired , he should be arrested . It is criminal the way he has drafted.

Colbert blew it he could've traded down and drafted Bradley Roby who is playing good for the Broncos, you get a capable CB and extra draft picks. Or he could've drafted EJ Gaines of the Rams in the third round, instead of that midget scatback Dri Archer.

Yes Dri Archer looks like a wasted pick but I believe Haley wanted a Dexter McCluster type to work into his scheme. Should have gone CB, but hey, Cortez Allen has upside.

We're going to have to agree to disagree here. I think the front 7 is exactly where you want to spend the high picks and big dollars. I'll provide 2 games from this season as case in point: The Chiefs demolished the Pats. Other than Eric Berry, their secondary is middling at best. However, because their front 7 dominated the Pats up front they completely shut Brady down. The Rams have a middling at best secondary across the board, yet they held Denver to 7 points in a dome stadium where offenses like Denver's should thrive. Again, it was all about pressure up front.

IMO opinion we don't need to be spending 1st round picks at the corner position. We need to be speeding those picks on guys who make our corners' lives easier by pressuring opposing QBs. Now, I'm not saying that we have the right corners for the job right now. We certainly need new corners, but 2nd - 4th round guys who fit our scheme would be just fine if we can get back to rushing the passer well.

If not THE worst, pretty damn close. How anyone thinks that our secondary was way down the list of WHY we lost that game is beyond me. They are the reason we lose almost every game. They suck.

They are bad but that just means the offense needs to put up more points and play lights out like we have seen them do this year. Granted only on two occasions lol

If this unit could get together and play good ball in every facet like we know they can our record would not look like it does now with that fear once again the Steelers may not make the playoffs

Yes they do suck, especially our safety play. Having a pass rush those 2 games vs indy and ravens masked our secondary big time. This was because no one bothered to check on Deebo and he had great games. Teams now double him and our pass rush disappeared. Kiesel going down just nullified it even further. I expect Jarvis to contribute but our D line needs to be addressed.

Of course we do need both .I just think that CB is more valuable and can have more of an immediate impact . Also the Rams use a 4 man front and all of them are pass rushers this allows them to give extra help on the backend ..So if your saying draft great DL who can play run and pass and switch to a 4-3 then ok I am in...

If not get me all the CB'S you can keep bending to we get in the Red zone and then those good CB'S can man up and keep Teams out of the end zone . Bend but don't break requires guys who can play man in the red zone , We can't stop the run because we have to use guys to help in pass coverage we can't stop the pass because we have to use guys to stop the run....Easiest way out is some man CB'S and then you can use other guys how you need them , we leave our guys 1 on 1 now is the joke of the NFL ...

Honestly, I don't care who they draft. If they draft a game changer than im all for it. I.E. NT who dominates the line, shutdown corner, ballhawking INT machine FS, force fumbler LB, sack monster LB, sack/int machine SS etc.

I agree the front 7 is where the biggest issues are for this defense. They need pass rushers in the worst way. Only time will tell if Shazier and JJ can be a couple of those guys.

Need to replace Cam Thomas first for the D to have any remote chance.

Yeah the lack of depth is what really ticks me off about these "project players". We could have had a lot stronger of a defense if not for trying to be cute in the draft. Maybe Archer will pan out. However, Landry and Rainey will not. The thing about "building through the draft" is that you have to really make good picks. I really don't know what's been worse in the past few years though. Our drafts or our free agency picks.
