I hope they can work something out or just move the hell on. Enough of this drama.

I understand how guaranteed money works. I just don’t think Bell would take Johnson’s deal. Everything Bell has said indicates that he’s a prideful guy, and it’s about all of the money, not just the guaranteed money.

Barring an unexpected turn of events, we’ll know in less than 6 months what the market will actually pay him. No point debating it now.

Hope he was watching today and if/when he does come back Tomlin makes him sit and watch Conner for at least the 1st quarter.

Im hoping a team needs a running back and has money and they trade him for a 1st rounder. I would take a 2nd and a 3rd also.

Honestly think Conner is a better fit for this team long term!

It's nothing wrong with having another talented player in your arsenal. The more the merrier.

Hopefully they trade the rap giant to the struggling eagles. They are interested!

No show for Bell again today. Talk is he will wait until after the trade deadline.

I just despise this guy more and more. Now he's just sticking it to the Steelers so they can't even try to get something good for him in a trade.

I don't think he is trying to "stick it to them".
He gets traded, that team can afford to tag Bell again (a 2nd tag) to keep him off the free market.
Only the Steelers (with a 3rd tag that escalates to the QB rate) can't afford to tag him again.

Note: I'm guessing his free market price is not better than what he is getting with the tags (and probably lower), but if his aim is not to be tagged, then this was the way to go.

I probably have a better chance of hiking the Grand Canyon and finding the winning $1,600,000,000 Mega Millions ticket laying in the middle of the trail.

Why does a team he's traded too get to only use the 2nd franchise tag on him? That doesn't sound right.

Also, I think by holding out, he is lowering the value of the 3rd tag, I don't think it will be near the 20 million estimated but not certain.

Bell is taking this very personally, I don't put it past him to put the screws to the Steelers. He feels they have disrespected him.

That article doesn't say that. Foster says no one has talked to him. I know there is another thread here with Conner saying he receives encouraging texts about his game but that's it. If he's talking to teammates about when he plans to return, they aren't letting on.

There will be no trade. He won't show till after the trade dead line. When the new players agreement happens...I am sure there will be some changes to how the tag system works. One I would do demand is that the player MUST SIGN before the trade deadline or that the team can trade a players rights even if he has not signed.

Bell wanted to sit...I say let him sit.

That’s what I was talking about was the text that Conner is getting from Bell.

If he doesn’t show at all, he doesn’t accrue a season and the Steelers can tag him again at the 2nd year tag level instead of the 3rd year tag level. I can’t believe he’d take it that far. I expect him to show up just in time to accrue a season.

I could be interpreting it wrong, but when articles describe the tags, it sounds like how many a particular team uses on a player. In which case, the traded team would be using their first tag this year, and the 2nd tag next year. (That is a pure guess. If it turns out to be how many any team uses on a player consecutively, than I'd be wrong. Don't know where to search for the actual legalese that applies.)

As far as lowering the value of the 3rd tag, that might apply for the 144% increase compared to this year's tag, but not for the QB rate. Since it is the higher of the two, sounds like 20+ million to me. (Even if it is the transition tag, that QB rate was almost $18M this year.)

They can tag him next year even if he does report this season, no? It’s just a matter of tag tender value.

Dunno either. I’d have thought the acquiring team would step into the sending team’s shoes, in which case Bell (assuming he’s traded this season) would be playing for his new team this year under his second tag. Seems fair to me. But that may not be how it works.

47 mil for 3 yrs are they nuts?

I would offer 36 for 3 then after he misses another game the offer is 34 then 32 and so on.

With his history and selfish attitude I can't believe another team would pay him anywhere close to what we are offering.

If Bell is such a "Rap giant", maybe he should go join Suge Knight!
    Too harsh?
