Here are two pictures which show Jarvis Jones failing to keep containment on a running play.
In pic 1, we see JJ has outside responsibility to turn the runner back inside into the pursuit.
In pic 2, we see he gets swallowed up and the runner gets to the outside for a big gain. IMG_9317.JPG IMG_9320.JPG

In these three pictures, we see a Miami WR wide open for a TD but lucky for us he drops it.
In pic 1, we see the ball in the air, on the left hashmark, right above the jumping Timmons, headed for the Dolphin on the far left. IMG_9332.JPG IMG_9333.JPG IMG_9334.JPG
In pic 2, we see the ball on the black line headed for the open WR.
In pic 3, luckily he drops the pass. But it should have been another TD.

This is the end-around play that DHB ran for a TD.
In pic 1, we see him on the left hashmark getting the ball from Ben.
In pic 2, we see him getting around the corner past the defenders.
In pic 3, we see him simply outrunning the Dolphins for the TD. Nice block by AB by the way. IMG_9422.JPG IMG_9425.JPG IMG_9429.JPG

Look and see how much #22 William Gay gets turned around here in coverage. IMG_9477.JPG IMG_9478.JPG IMG_9479.JPG

Ok..what's done is done let's move forward it's not like we can change the outcome of that game anyways. We have the Colts Thanksgiving night that's our focus now and securing the AFC North.

In the Cowboys game Timmons and Shazier got swallowed up also on running plays.

shazier was crashing into the middle and slipped on the final TD. he did that against Cleveland too but actually made a tackle in the backfield.

if you watch shazier he is doing this alot. Seems like an easy way to get out of position when done frequently. There was an article where Jason Garrett said they expected it. Too predictable?

Missed plays on the line and backers not hitting their mark correctly... Would be nice, but it didn't happen as damn close as we were

Must not have been a successful dolphinplasty. I still can't believe that we don't accommodate dolphin people in this country.

One thing that would go a long way towards our Steelers going deep in the playoffs would be if L. Green comes alive. In these three pictures, we see a seam route, it looks like, IMG_1043.JPG IMG_1044.JPG IMG_1045.JPG run by our TE. Ben throws a jump ball more or less, the kind that Gronk and Antonio Gates catch for nice gains for their teams. would be a nice new weapon for Ben if he can come up with these.

Todd Haley has gotten some criticism for his play calling especially early on, but in these three pictures, we see a well designed one.
In pic 1, we see #83 and #81 run routes to the left, and #17 running a slant to the inside behind all the traffic.
In pic 2, we see the defender can't catch up.
In pic 3, we see a completion for a nice gain. Well done. IMG_1082.JPG IMG_1084.JPG IMG_1086.JPG

IMG_1143.JPG IMG_1147.JPG IMG_1150.JPG "If you have a big gun, use it" I think was first used when describing Jim Brown. The same applies today to Le'von Bell. He's a playmaker and Todd Haley gets him the ball. I'll bet I saw a dozen or more simple flares/screens/button hook patterns that got Bell the ball in the open. Here's an example:

Here's a good example of our zone coverage when it's working well. As you can see, it takes good communication and understanding among the DBs.

In these three pictures from the playoff victory over Miami IMG_0358.JPG IMG_0359.JPG IMG_0362.JPG , we see Ben make an excellent sell that it's a pass play. Surprise. It's a hand off to Bell for a nice gain. Nice job by all.
You're the Miami defense. It looks like a pass play, I mean, look at Ben. pic 1
And there's a Pitt WR off picture to the left that is open. Pass play all the way, right? Nope, hand off to Bell. pic 2
Shoots thru the hole for a nice gain. pic 3.

From the playoff victory over Miami:
IMG_0364.JPG IMG_0365.JPG IMG_0367.JPG I got the impression that the Miami DBs were always a step behind the Steeler WRs all day, trailing the play, more or less.

pic 1. DB still flat footed when WR in his cut.

pic 2. ball almost in WR hands and DBs still not close enough to tackle.

pic 3. still trying to catch up with him.
