i wish keith butler would come to the realization that you can't do everything on defense with LB'ers. he was one and he loves them i get that, but they just can't do it all. i think this was way too much to offer hightower and to let timmons go. i'm glad he went back to the cheats.

butler pounds his fist and demands LB'ers for his defense but the biggest asset to this defense last year was DB's and hargraves and tuitt playing so well to me anyway. he tried to use our ILB'ers as coverage players way too much if you ask me and we struggled somewhat leaving the short middle of the field open as coverage dropped deeper and deeper taking our ILB'ers out of position too much. no way timmons should have been matched up on wr's ever.

i want obi and jones badly as draft picks to keep shazier in the range i just talked about and use these guys as help for him and also range for them as safeties to help downfield. i hope KB starts to change his thinking on this. drafting these guys would give you darn near 3 shaziers on the field. then we have something, but hey thats me. :smiley1::cool:

Part of that article is missing when I click on the link. The part where Butler broke down KC's door, pounded his desk and then choked him out for not giving him enough LB's :lolol:

wasn't to be included in this article, just the part about how much they offered hightower. there are articles about butler. it's pretty well known he wants LB'ers always. if they all could only play like he did.

    LOL Mac! :lollmao:

I like the sound of what you're "pounding the table" for. Obi and Jones would look good in black and gold.

Steelers have long love of LB's though, thats not just a Butler thing.

not just a butler thing, it's also not just a burgh thing either, heck the whole state. penn st. has always been known as LB U. i just want them as slimmer, big, strong, fast safeties. they can call them all LB'ers if they want. :lolol::smiley1::cool:

Not sold on Jones yet. I've watched a couple of games, and I'm not sure he has what it takes to defend against the NFL passing game. However, I'm getting very warm to the idea of Obi at #30, and not just because I'm a UCONN alum/fan/homer. The more I watch of him on tape, the more I feel that the things that led me to think of him as more of a 3rd-4th round prospect when watching him in person were more scheme related, and easily fixable. That's why film is so good. You can can focus on one guy and say "what are they really asking him to do here, and how well does he do it?" He's going to be a good pro.

If we were going to double dip at safety with Obi and someone else, I'd prefer a true center fielder. I'd want Obi near the line of scrimmage on most downs.

Love me some Obi. If we could walk out of the first with either him, Peppers, Takk or Watts, Id be very happy. :yeehaw:

Oh man the very first thing that pops in my head when I think "Steeler Football" is a linebacker doing all he possibly can do to murder a quarterback.
