No cut steelers claimed oops, almost.

    This is sort of hilarious.

I was curious to see if any Steelers would be claimed, because I really was impressed with a lot of the rook OL and some DL. And thought some teams would actually add them to their active roster. Nope! I was wrong. But I did check to see which players were claimed. I think 16 teams took players. The list is at the bottom of this stuff.

But what is funny about this is almost at the very end of the list the word Pittsburgh finally came up. And it was a mistake.

Claimed OT T.J. Clemmings off waivers from ?Pittsburgh? [NOPE IT'S Washington] and OT Justin Murray off waivers from Cincinnati. OAK

I didn't recognize the name and looked it up. Oh, he went to PIT U but was cut by Washington. Oh well, just a few more to go then the shocker [to me]. The very last claim was

Claimed P Matt Wile off waivers from Pittsburgh. MIN

Yep! According to espn he is on their updated roster. Oh well, I am now offically declaring myself out of the players to claim business. LOL Anyway, here are the players claimed.

I liked Carl Davis somewhat out of Iowa and really liked Vallejo out of Tennessee. He had some injury concerns but gave me that Burfict vibe. Not the penalty one, but the mobility one.

So bummed we couldn't land this guy. Thought he'd be a great addition to the FS prospect pool for us...

Well the interesting stat would be how many players from each team actually get claimed . I'm purely speculating but on average it probably only ends up being 1 or 2 players anyway. We had 1 claimed some teams may have had 2 possibly 3 and some teams none. I'm pretty sure it's about the same every year and it probably balances out. So it seems to me that either every team "knows what they're doing" or they have a strong tendency to try and hang on to and develop their own....

What do they know about QBs they drafted Osweiller and ruined him, they have perennial backup Keenum starting and they cut their 1st round draft pick paxton lynch because they couldnt develop him, I wouldnt pay any attention to what they do when it comes to QBs just my observation from afar....

Yeah, because their GM sure doesn't know jack about what it takes to be a great NFL QB...

Not all great QB’s are great GM’s? It seems that with Osweiler and Lynch he’s had a rough go of young QB’s so far

True. Nobody hits a homerun every time at bat. There are way more 1st round QBs who were expected to be great but washed out. But the list of great QBs who lived up to expectations is much shorter. Osweiler was never expected to be much of an NFL QB, so not sure I'd call that failure on the GM or coaching staff. Lynch was a bit of a reach as well, IMO was way overdrafted and over hyped.

Yes, of course. If there were any players in the over a thousand cut of interest to them they are still there. Even if they have been added to PS's, or were cut as FA's.

Last year Aug 30 CLE cut Joe Haden.[FA] He signed here Aug 31.

This year apparently the roster is set.[?] Probably so.

But I think my point was no Steeler position player was lost and quite a few now on the PS have a future in the NFL. Hopefully here. Including both Frazier and Henderson who were not signed.

Uhh! This is the 1st year in a long time for me that I believe the TC and now the PS had any significant value.

Last year Mike Hilton was the camp surprise. But he was not waived he flat out made the team.

And they also let go of Kyle Sloter who seemed to be developing into a nice #3. I think he's up in MN now

You’re right. Unfortunately for them those were 2nd and 1st round picks... sucks to waste those on players who don’t pan out. Idk about Osweiler though. You’d expect a guy you take in the second to turn out to be a good player.
