darcrav actually said we are gonna make it to New Jersey so it's probably best to just agree. LOL.

Cincinnati winning today was NOT a help. Pittsburgh's big concern may end up being week 17 when all is said and done. If we end up in a position where we need the Ravens to lose in that final week and Cincinnati has already clinched the division, the Bengals wouldn't be able to tank the game fast enough. I remember a couple years back when the Bengals had clinched and they may still have been able to get the #3 vs. #4 seed had they beaten the Jets. They moved the Bengals/jets game to the night game in week 17 and the final score was something like 52-0.

The nightmare scenario is they do something similar and move the Ravens/Bengals to the night game in week 17 after the Bengals find out they have absolutely nothing to play for by kickoff time (since New England probably will have clinched #2 and coaches don't seem to care about 3 vs. 4 for some reason -- that's another thing is that hopefully New England still has a lot to play for in week 16 when they play the Ravens otherwise another the Ravens could cakewalk into the playoffs).

Here's hoping. For now, it looks like the Ravens have the inside track.

Of course, there's a lot of work to do to even make week 17 matter

heres a question that was posed to me? I think the steelers will make the playoffs but I don't think we will make a run. so is it better to lose out? improve draft status

Looking at the schedules, I could see the Steelers going 3-1, and the Ravens going 1-3. I'll put the Titans at going 2-2.

SOMEHOW, we are not licked yet.

I hope this team never purposely loses any game to improve draft status. I want to see them compete to win every game they are in regardless of what "position" they'll be in. Sorry, my competitive nature will never allow me to root for the Steelers (or any other favorite teams from other sports) to purposely lose for any reason.

Having said that, even if the Steelers do somehow make it to the playoffs, I just don't think this team has what it takes this year to get very far. I'd be in Heaven if they somehow managed to make it all the way, but the play in all 3 phases has just not been good or consistent enough, so my expectations are not high. May they prove me wrong :steelflag:

Absolutely right! That's how you develop a culture of losing which could haunt a franchise for a generation.

Should the Steelers win the next 4, that would put them going 9-3 in their last 12 games. If that should happen your mind frame would change going into the playoffs. You wouldn't be thinking the steelers just made it there with inconsistency and "not good" play would you? After overcoming a rash of injuries and according to most here bad coaching. If the Steelers should make it who's the hero...

I think for now it is good Cincy beat SD because it helps us out with the 6th seed. I think you actually have to root for Cincinnati winning out other than losing to the Steelers. Keep in mind if they can go into the last game of the year one game back of NE they have a lot to play for because if they finish tied with NE they have the tiebreaker. I think it is realistic enough to think NE could trip up once more to someone like Miami on the road, but hopefully not Baltimore on the road. I am sure Brady will have some fire for that game considering the way Baltimore smoked them in the AFC Championship Game last year.

From what I am seeing is if we finish tied with Baltimore and win the three home games (all AFC games) then Pittsburgh will win a tiebreaker over Baltimore based on a better record against common opponents. The Steelers really need to first win and then hope Baltimore loses to Detroit and NE or Cincy. But first things first - let's hope they can beat the Fins or all hope is definitely lost.

Oh by the way - keep in mind there are other games that may be more attractive than Baltimore at Cincinnati for the last game of the year that have potential playoff impact including: Green Bay at Chicago, Detroit at Minnesota - if Green Bay gets hot w/Rodgers being back those games could mean something. But the big one that could very well trump Baltimore at Cincinnati is Philadelphia at Dallas where the division could be on the line.

Right, we wanted Cincy to beat the Chargers. That helped us.

Miami is 6-6, and they have a favorable 4 games left, they already beat the bungles and they have 3 games left they can win and maybe 4 if the steelers don't show up Sunday, by the way if Pitt loses Sunday they are eliminated from the playoffs in my mind.....

I agree one more loss and they're toast. 4 more wins they're in 99%. There is two games that scare me outta four. But, three games at home help our chances.

Cincy could easily lose the next 4. Brutal schedule they have. I hope the Vikings well over the next few weeks, let's go cassels/peterson ...

I'm not counting out SD yet. That team looks good enough to beat anyone right now Doesn't mean they'll win out, but they're playing well. Baltimore is inconsistent, but they also have the ability to win out. I just don't trust our team enough to go on any type of winning streak. We're so inconsistent.

If I was betting, I'd take Baltimore and then SD, then us.

    Me too.

If not us, then San Diego. No way can I see Baltimore making another miracle run like last year with their current roster. Miami is fried and Tennessee is close behind. We have Ben and the Chargers have Rivers, none of the other teams in the mix have a QB that can carry a team like those two and none have a dominating aspect to their game to make up for the non-QB.

We'll make the playoffs and blow into the second round where we get eliminated by either Brady or Manning.

I think our injuries on the OL are too much to over come. Heart says Steelers and head says Chargers or Ratbirds.

At best the Chargers will go 2 and 2 in their last 4, and end their season at 7-9, 3 division games left and they have already lost to 2 of those division rivals, they have to play Denver in Denver, that's a for sure loss, they might beat the giants, but that's not a gimme, and it's unlikely KC will lose to them twice, as well the raiders beat them once already whats to say they cant win again?????????

I'm sorry, but NE dropping to the 3rd seed? I find that about as laughable as Cincy becoming the 2nd seed. NE has lost 6 games in December over the last 13 years.

They need to win the remaining 3 AFC games to have any chance...any loss of those 3 the tiebreakers will be way to far to overcome

We just need to get Maurkice to take Mike (Pouncey not Tomlin) out for a "night on the town". That otta take care of Miami at least. On 2nd thought, maybe they sould take Tomlin along too. LOL
