Good news. This year I know the inexperience of the line early in the season made it difficult to use no huddle but every year the team seems like it would benefit if they used it more and they never do. About time. Assuming they actually follow through with this.

Here is the common thing that everyone misses on the no huddle.

I'm sure the Steelers want to use it more often. But, when your defense is getting their butt kicked long drive after long drive and can't force teams to punt or try to kick FG's.

Its hard to go no huddle on offense, because if you go 3 and out, your putting them right back on the field.

So you want to see more no huddle, Steelers need to play better defensively and get off the darn field.

Here is the trouble with your line of thinking..... We are going 3 and out early and often with the regular offense, so we might as well just go for it

Using no huddle will likely mean more rest for the defense as the offense will have more success.

I thought Ben said we had like only 5 plays in Canada's No Huddle Playbook?

    Optimist here....

The No Huddle is an up tempo offense, so those 3 and outs would mean our defense would be spending more time on the field. The offense gets the ball and a few minutes later it would be fourth down and the Steelers would be punting already.

I just don't know how we can get teams to play their prevent defense in the 1st quarter like they do when they have a significant lead. This is why the No Huddle offense really works for Pittsburgh.

You guys aren't wrong I'm just saying this is why they probably avoid it because their defense gets gassed so early and often

Surly they've expanded on that. At least from what I've seen in the last couple of games it looks like they have.

The other possibility is that they are going to allow Ben to go back to Randy's Offense when running the No Huddle?

That way Ben will be calling the plays when they are running the Old No Huddle offense.

    Very Well could be.
I would say they have been mixing that in a little on the No huddle lately.
Of course I'm basing that on When they are running it, and Sometimes Ben has 2 study the wrists ban, and other time doesn't even look at it....just starts lining players Up.

Pros: It's up tempo. It moves the ball when done effectively. It's in Ben's comfort zone. Puts points on the board and raises the win probability.

Cons: it stresses a young inexperienced team . It increases the potential for mistakes and penalties. It limits personnel groupings and doesn't allow for the run game to develop. It can limit favorable matchups.

If they are trying to win games I'm a last ditch effort to get Ben close enough for a haul Mary shot at one more championship its the way to go. If you are looking long term to build guys skills it will hurt.. all in or all out. It's the only option.

We’ve been pretty successful running the no huddle for a few weeks, and I like our chances of putting points on the board with it. We’ve got to find a way to score points before we get to desperation time. I’m not saying to run it constantly, but I’d love to see us come out of the gate with a full up tempo, no huddle offense against the opponent’s base defense. Script out some plays in an “11” personnel set with Najee, Muth, DJ, Claypool and JW, and go to work.

Catch 22 here. If they don't go no huddle, they are right back on the field anyway which is why they want to go no huddle. Or am I missing something here? I think we need to do whatever it is that works, and quite frankly, I have no clue what that is and they probably don't either which is why they are taking notes from the Chargers game???. JMO>

In theory. I agree with it though. My only concern is why it takes most of the season to figure this out as an option. JMO>

The biggest unknown has to be if they go with more no huddle is it more risk to Ben or less? Or are we as a fan base at that point where we don't care let him give everything he's got left and go out a martyr.

Like this idea and have wondering for years why we don't use it more often. Hopefully it pays off. Maybe they will even shake things up and run a qb sneak when we need a 1/2 yard.....

Maybe the defense should go no huddle, too.

Agreed! Always in times of desperation because our 1st half scoring is terrible. We've been outscored 98-150 in the first half. Had the lead at the half only 3 times this year and been tied twice. Of those 5 games we have been behind going into the 2nd half our record is 4-0-1. Like you said gotta get them points early.

Yeah, but isn't this what we ran last year with Ben throwing the ball 40-50 times a game?

Okay, understand new players, but why hasn't this been done earlier then 13 games into the season when this has been a problem most of the year.
