It’s like we are basically punting next year because we all know how crappy MC is it’s clear as day. So we can fire him next year why not just do it now?? Mind blowing nonsense.

    Miscommunication here

I wasn’t suggesting they didn’t have hot routes for Ben

I was agreeing with the part where the offense was simplified which it was

I said it was because of the contract and that they did the same exact thing with Butler. Both true.

Who said Leftwich is the savior? Canada could use some help, if not Leftwich then someone else.

Why would he want to be second fiddle to Canada? Worked out well for Austin.

Thanks for the clarification because I did not watch the interview. This makes way more sense.

I thought Kenny got better later in the season when Tomlin made Canada throw out about 50% of his offense. Kenny will get there, but he is not going to be able to pickup the entire offense during the middle of his rookie year.

I remember reading about Ben's first year, and how they had him only reading one side of the field, and not trying to figure out where all his receivers were going on every play.

both coached other positions as well. We have a qb coach already. Flores was a lb coach as well as assistant dc. Austin was assistant dc as well as db coach. Butler was also our lb coach.

It would be nice if Mike Tomlin took his underperforming Offense seriously and went out and hired a top notch OC but they already caved to that idea. It will be more jet sweeps and passes to the sidelines.

Its hard to say what took place in Dallas. With Jerry Jones you just ride the tide. While it said it was a mutual decision, Kellen was fortunate to get out of a system where he would get little credit..and a lot of blame. Now he has a chance to build an O under Herbert and if succcessful move to the hot list for future HC positions.

There is something to be said about stability, but there is a limit. I do not necessarily like the Eagles, but you cannot help but respect a team who wins a SB, then in five years with a New HC gets back there..with only 8 members of that previous SB still on the roster.

None of that matters. Don’t know why you keep going off on different tangents but the fact is they brought Austin in and made him senior defensive assistant and then he took over as DC. This year they brought Flores in and named him senior defensive assistant.

Given how much Canada struggled it would not surprise me if they bring in a senior offensive assistant whether that be Leftwhich or someone else. I hope they do, Canada needs the help.

it's not different tangents. in both cases they moved up a coach that was coaching a position already. same with butler when he took over for dick. so logic would expect mike sullivan to move to QB coach and sr. offensive assistant. that seems to be the MO. i wouldn't have a problem with sullivan having that gig. he is helping KP more than canada at this stage. possibly they may work from within again. sullivan and pat meyer may be the answer sitting right under their noses. as the year went on the o-line got better and so did KP and the run game. both sullivan and meyer have been successful in the nfl.

as a side note, we will be losing flores. can austin handle it himself? they stunk when he lost TJ. was flores instermental in getting them better? our ILB'ers have not been that good under jerry O. now he is our only coach for the LB'ers. that is the most disturbing part of this team for me that not many are talking about.

Pretty sure hot routes are in the Pitt playbook. Maybe it's Canada who doesn't understand them.

All I was doing was pointing out fired coaches get hired every year and it somehow ended up here :lolol:

There could be many reasons to not hire a coach, that he was just fired is not one of them.

SF took a rookie to the NFC championship game and not a first rounder the last player picked .

The most interesting thing I heard was Purdy completed 55% of his passes over the middle . There is more risk but the WR is coming open right infront of the QB , thats how good coaching has success with a rookie QB.

Canada treats the middle of the field like its the forbidden zone of death.

How easy is it to defend against sideline LOS bubble screens ,DJ going down the left sideline for a 5 yd out and Pickens running str8 down the right sideline.

That is Canada's passing offense in one sentence.

To be fair, it helps that the 49ers have Kittle catching a high percentage of those passes over the middle. Freiermuth is good, but he's not on that level.

The really odd part of it is that Pickett had tremendous success attacking the middle of the field in college. We saw some of that his rookie season, but not nearly enough. It didn't help that the Steelers really don't have a good No. 3 receiver, but there should have been more passes over the middle to Johnson, Pickens, and Freiermuth .

I'm not disagreeing with you. But Josh Johnson sure as hell wasn't able to keep the train rolling before he got his bell rung.

Josh Johnson is practice squad fodder and he wasn't even with the team until December. He was facing the best pass defense in the league, a unit which features the league's best pass rush. He didn't get starters practice reps before the game. Also, it's not as if he played the whole game. Not counting two plays in the final seconds of the first half, Johnson was in there for four drives. He was actually knocked out of the game during that fourth drive. Even with all that, he was able to drive the 49ers to a game-tying touchdown. Remember, his fumble was a botched snap, the sort of thing that is far more likely to happen with a little-used backup who hasn't gotten many reps with the starters.

It's not that Purdy didn't do some things well, but man, he had the perfect situation around him making him look good. Johnson had some of those advantages working for him, but he also had the disadvantages I pointed out above. Also, Johnson sucks. Don't forget that part.
