At least Dawson (and Butler) are still in it as of now...Dawson has been sooo close in recent years...this has to be his turn..

    HOF shafts Jerome Bettis

    Not in.

As of this hour, Curtis Martin is one of the final 10. So is Aeneas Williams. LOL.

I am so sick and damn tired of the media's and the NFL's NY/Boston bias. You can go over numbers all you want, you will not convince me that Curtis Martin deserves a spot in Canton before The Bus. Sickening. Just absolutely sickening. Ranks right up there with these jackasses decision to put Patriot Andre Tippett into the Hall ahead of Derrick Thomas.

I can't believe BUS didn't even make the final 10.

Bettis can wait. Other guys need to get in first, including our very own Dawson, who was both better than Bettis and has been waiting longer. He should have been a first-year.

The other guys can wait, in my opinion.

Hard to say "Better than" when comparing a center and a RB. And - I agree that there is at least ONE guy who should go in first - LC GREENWOOD!

DAWSON and BUTLER both get in YAY!!!

Would have been GREAT if Bettis got in with them (Greene, eh he can wait)

I agree. Apples and oranges. But for many Dawson is considered the greatest center of all time. I think by just about everyone he's considered one of the top two or three. Not many, including me, would put Bettis in the top 5 RBs of all time, and maybe not even top 10. That's what I meant.

Well I guess this means Neil O'donnell will have to wait a little longer. Hang in there Neil. I'm sure you will beat our last great Steelers RB.

Congrats to Dawson and Butler. I guess three Steelers going in at the same time was too much but I am guessing The Bus gets in next year.

Right now the old way Greenwood can get in, is as an old timer. Like LeBeau and Jack Butler just did.

In hindsight - there was NO way that 3 Steelers would be going into the hall in one year. LC wasn't in the running, so the right two went in. Bettis should be a no-brainer next year. Only one non-lineman among the five modern-era inductees. Next year will be different and I think we can be pretty sure that the Bus will be stopping in Canton in 2013.

Someone needs to start pushing for LC to get veterans committee consideration. He's really not even mentioned much in the early reporting on it.

I'm wondering how Cortez Kennedy got in. Maybe my memory is faulty, but I don't remember him being that great.

8 Pro Bowls. I'll bet there are only a handful of eligible players in NFL history that made 8 ProBowls and are not in the HOF

He was a truly awesome player that spent his whole career on the Seahawks in the '90s.

If Aaron Smith ever did make the Hall of Fame, which he should but won't, there would be billions of people wondering the same thing you are about Kennedy. I'm very glad Cortez got in, but I still can't believe Carter didn't make it.

This is the thing that I try to explain to people that think Hines Ward is a slam-dunk first ballot HOFer. First, it ain't easy to get in, a lot of exception players aren't in. Second, they only let in 5 + 1 old timer at the maximum every year. A backlog builds up and it can take a while to clear. Carter will eventually get in, but they seem to make WRs wait a while. Ask Art Monk and Lynn Swann.
