Mitchell isn't just a good player. He is an All-Pro, so who here is overreacting to one game? That would be you.

Last night was Fautanu's worst game, but it wasn't the only time this season that an opposing defender turned him into a turnstile. Go back and watch the loss to the Chargers if you don't believe me.

So what Mitchell had a bad playoff game too. It doesn't mean Fautanu hasn't been solid for the most part in his first full season as a starter.

There are degrees of bad. Fautanu looked helpless.

Also, do you understand the difference between solid and All-Pro?

Middling might be kind given how badly some top edge guys have kicked his ass, including the playoff game.

He is nowhere near the level of Mitchell as a player.

This is easy stuff. They passed on an All-Pro for a guy who is nowhere near as good. They messed up. End of story for those looking at this logically.

Steelers need upgrades at both Tackle positions, IMO. I stated before the season the OL is simply not good enough... and it hasn't been since Villanueva, Pouncey and DeCastro left. The season's mediocre results proved me to be right about the OL.

This is what happen when the team and HC won't accept reality, and take a step back and rebuild.

I never liked the Fitzpatrick trade.

I agree. If they end up having to move Fautanu inside or he doesn't pan out at all, a bad first-round pick becomes a complete disaster given what they passed up to take him.

The Eagles don't have to consider such things with Mitchell. That's what happens when some dumbass team ahead of you leaves the future All-Pro on the board. :drinks:

I wanted Mitchell too, but I get them wanting to fix the trenches first move on already it's not like they drafted Jamain Stephens .

Max Starks hit the ground running. So did Willie Colon. Fautanu isn't consistent as they were. He doesn't hold up against the better edge rushers... and is mediocre at best in run blocking. Likewise with Jones at LT.

I'm not saying jettison the entire OL. Frazier and McCormick are legit at C and RG. But Steelers need to look into improving at both Tackles and draft a LG to replace Semeolu

Fautanu was good for most of the season he had a few bad games like every other player in the league , to suggest he needs to be replaced after one full season as a starter is nonsense.

We are gonna have to disagree on this. :smiley1:

I don't think either of the OT's are "above the line" to use a Tomlin-ism.

Most of the season you never heard Fautanu name called during the game, which means he wasn't getting beat or screwing up by getting penalties like Jones would.

It isn't hate to say that they were better off with the All-Pro cornerback. It was easy to see the Steelers made a mistake on draft day. This season continued to make that clear, especially Fautanu's pathetic performance in the playoff loss. I know some folks will continue to refuse to be honest with themselves about that.

SIS rated Mitchell as the 30th best CB this season. They rated Fautanu as the 2nd best RT.
