I have high hopes for this year.

Anyone know that Emmanuel Sanders was out part or all of Sunday's practice and what that was about? Coach Tomlin didn't mention him in the press conference today as being injured.

Good article. I like the sound of more no huddle...

Coach T gave him Sunday off because they were on the fake turf, saying that he was "staying ahead of the curve with him" due to his foot and knee problems last year. He practiced in full today.

That was a good read jeh, thanx.
I have been mildly concerned about Heath`s ankle, tho. Anyone know what the deal is with that?
Hate to see my favorite tight end, start the season already hobbled.
Yes, I agree, I have wanted to see more of the no huddle, when it wasn`t necessary, because of the clock, also.
Not sure how much has changed with the new O, but that would certainly be a good incentive for Ben to learn it well, if he is promised the chance to use more of the no huddle, if he does show that he understands the new offense.
One of the excuses in the past, was that it was hard to run on the road, which may be true, but half your games are still at home, and I don`t seem to notice other teams that like the no huddle, shying away from it on the road.
Heck, Peyton virtually ran a no huddle, every game he played, wherever they played, even when they huddled. ;)

Not to hijack this thread but it was mentioned in the article....How can the AP have us ranked 17th out of 32 teams? I think that shows the medias lack of respect for our team. I am so sick of ESPN and the NFL Network constantly covering Jets training camp. I feel this is all we will see on TV all year. Thank God we have this message board.

It should come as no surprise where we are ranked in people's minds and in the media - or who the media covets.

The Steelers have never been a stat team so when the "experts" crunch the numbers, we don't look all that impressive individually. How many times (compared to other teams) are Steeler players in the tickers during games for stats? Not as often as probably half the league.

The only stat that really counts is number of Super Bowl Championships you have and then secondarily, it's nice to see our team succeed year after year. That doesn't make the ticker yet it's the most impressive stat of all.

I actually used another image for his ear. I had to change the size and angle a bit but it fits nicely now!

Coach T was starting to look like Sloth from the Goonies. (Ok Jim, once again, you are showing your age on here...mental note = wear flat brimmed hat over eyes and ears, find pants 3 sizes to big and buy extra pair of checkered boxers...check Oh, and use the word pwnd ALOT!)

It's not a lack of respect, it's based on starting 2 rookie Olineman and 1 guy who hasn't played football in 2 years. It's based on having a new OC and the rumours of the Haley and Ben relationship. It's based on Wallace holding out. It's based on a lot of turnover on our defence. It's based on fact that although our defence was ranked high last year in several categories, they weren't very good. We played a ton of poor teams and poor QB's. Don't make any mistake, we have a ton of questions marks with this team. With that said, we have more talent than we've had in a very, very long time. We'll be fine long term, but it's possible we have some growing pains.

While all thats true, they say the same **** about us every year. When you are on top for so long, people want to see you fall.

I don't buy that. You don't hear people wanting GB, NE or NO to fall. Sure, there's some people out there that want us to fall same as with every team, but I believe the majority of the analysts are calling it as they see it, and I agree with them. We have a ton of questions marks right now, including a lot of unproven young players (Hood, Heyward, Decastro, Adams, Sanders), then we have question marks at NT, plus the Wallace situation, and don't forget Ben and Haley. Combine that with our pretty terrible defensive play last year as well as the question of Harrison's health, and I understand why people are reluctant to put us in the top 10.

I'm not worried about our Oline for once, but our defence scares me. Hood has never impressed me, not one time, and I'm not hearing great things about him from camp either. Heyward hasn't had enough playing time, and who knows what's going to happen at NT. Then we have the DB's which are a constant question mark.

I have no doubt we'll be fine long term because our front office is one of the best in the league, but short term this team worries me a bit.

Thats because the Steelers have been a force for the last 20 years. NE, GB and NO have not. Fact of life, people want to see you fall when you're on top. I've been listening to the same crap from analysts for years and giving the same reasons. Not all analysts of course.
