I think Adams will be alright, ta'amu is a knob and I'm ok with the steelers taking a flier on a guy with talent but some problems in late rounds. Thes guys either pay off big or weed themselves out. Not concerned about a fifth rounder rb not panning out--rb's are a dime a dozen. Burfict is a perfect example of a late round flier--I'd like to see them take a few more chances late. Most don't even make the squad, so what does it hurt?

Yeah, he should have benched or cut all of the starters who underperformed. I mean that is what all teams do, right?

i'm not laying blame on any one person, i'm just saying MT has alot more to do with drafting a player as a HC then glenn was saying. do you really think they hired MT and said we drafted you a LB in the first this year so make it work? we will tell you what your getting, you just coach them. hardly the way it works.

Where did I say that? I didn't, so don't put words in my mouth. The responsibility for the performance of the team rests with the head coach. He is ultimately in charge and as such is responsible for poor execution, penalties, poor conditioning, etc. I didn't say what he needed to do to fix it, only that it is his responsibility to fix. It may be the fault of the players, but it is the responsibility of the head coach. You can't fire 53 players as easy as you can fire 1 coach, even if the 53 players are the problem. Now I'm not saying Tomlin will or should be fired, that's a different thread, I'm just saying whether or not the teams poor play was his fault, it is his responsibility and he will be blamed if it continues.

Quit blaming everything on Tomlin he doesn't have final say on who gets drafted, GM Kevin Colbert makes the picks.

How would he fix the issues? Teach pro players things they learned in Pee Wee football (how to catch and hold on to the ball)? Teach pro players how to eat right and work out?

The players are just as responsible as Tomlin yet a lot of people just say it's Tomlin's responsibility.

Sometimes you have to take a chance on talent.

Belichik is but I don't know of any others. Honestly I don't think that most people can fathom in their minds how to run a pro team. Much less BUILD ONE FROM THE GROUND UP!

And you wonder why we are 8 and 8? People, you are
sadly mistaken if you don't think the head coach is not
involved in player selection along with the GM and scouting departments.
Like Bill Parcells use to say why go to the store if you can't buy the groceries?
Very disappointing for the Rooney's, a product that they have built for
last 40 years, being torn down by snot nosed thugs.

I went out last night and got my drink on, slapped some broads around then drove home, think I might have hit a car, can't remember. They'll probably fire my Boss!

This team has always relied on good drafts to field a good team. With this past draft along with some other lack luster drafts in recent years, I'm afraid we're seeing the start of some lean years for our beloved steelers. It makes it tough if you whiff on one particular draft class, let alone 3 or 4.

I don't know about alot of guys here but I can handle 2 or 3 lean years if its gonna put us back on top of the heap! That is of course we don't start riding that slippery slope downward (aka Browns). I am somewhat of a patient man.;)

Well, Parcells actually said if they expected him to cook the dinner he ought to be able to shop for some of the groceries, but I get what you're saying.

If I had to put a number to it, I believe Colbert has 51% say in who we draft with the rest 49% belonging to everyone else. Kinda like when you were growing up and would ask your mom for a toy you couldn't have. Sometimes asking long enough and loud enough would allow you to eventually get it but not until you had her approval.

The Giants did have George Young as a G.M. during the Parcells years to help with player acquisitions but I think Parcells had more autonomy than Tomlin does. Mara was basically hands-off whereas Art II seems to want to participate more with team dealings.

i'd have to say the owner has the biggest % of say so. cowher didn't want ben, colbert was new, rooneys got their QB. i still believe cowher helped colbert alot in the process over their years together. remember the cowher/ tom donahoe struggle of who has more power? cowher remained. now colbert don't have cowhers help and our scouting personnel has changed. i don't think it's near as good as it used to be.

they all come to agreement on a board full of players, from top grades on down. most of it comes down to where there guy is when it's there turn to pick.

it's not usually art II has a guy he wants and colbert has a guy he likes, and MT has a guy he likes, and the head scouts have their guys. ( the scouting dept.which dan jr. is still ahead of)

it's a concensus they use, together to come to the big board. they may banter a bit on the final pick if it's down to two guys they like in the first or otherwise. it's not like colbert like one guy that everyone else hates and he's the man and will get his pick no matter what.

We better be thinking what happened to our draft the year Mendy was picked?
Was that 2008? I am not sure but I don't think we will have one player from that
draft left on the team. This is unacceptable.
