6 steelers in the top 100 list

It seems all are ranked too low
I think Troy P is top 10 for sure
I think Big Ben and Silverback should be in top 20
Wallace and POuncey should be in top 30
Woodley should be in top 50

    What say you all?

To be honest I can't stand these lists. I remeber last year ll the big name players saying they weren't even asked to vote and didn't know anybody that did.

A lot of our guys have question marks, and this list is about how high they're rated going into next year.

Troy has health concerns. Harrison has health concerns. Ben has concerns about learning a new offence and about not getting along with his OC (even if it isn't true, that's the perception).

they put john kuhn in it, enough said.

a far more accurate and systematic list is the pro football focus top 101 players.

This show is just another way for them to try and capitalize on the style and formula of America's Game and the whole "Top 100 of All Time" that they did a couple of years ago.I never watch this crap. NFL Network is becoming like VH1 Classic or something will all these ridiculous countdown shows. Before long they will be able to do a show called the "The Top 100 Countdown Shows" ranking their favorite countdown shows from the previous month.

Not sure why some of you guys hate this stuff so much. Sure, there's nothing accurate about asking an OL to rank WR's, or a DE to rank CB's, but it's entertainment, nothing more. It's not really meant to be an accurate list of who is better than who, it's just for fun.

Sadly, not everyone takes it that way. It carries weight despite its gross inaccuracies, like Pro Bowl apperances. Fans, pundits, and players themselves look to it for the truth. My god, Ray Lewis was FOURTH last year! The man's not even the best linebacker on his own team, and hasn't been for years. This year he's 20th and there was an uproar about why he was so low.

The fact that Tebow made the top 100 makes me doubt that players actually did vote for this or that their votes were the only consideration. It seems that the NFL Network had some say in how the list was put together.

Tebow is a tremendous athlete, I don't think he can be knocked for that. His QB skills are an entirely different story.

One problem I have, not so much with the programme but with the NFL Network analysis (in general) is how much love Ray Lewis gets. Now, this is not to say he was probably one of the best LBs to play the game (even though it makes me sick to say). However, in recent seasons it seems more to do with the analysts knowing Ray personally, talking about the texts from him and the like. Same with some others.

I understand that players tend to know each other. But from an analyst, I want some kind of detached view, based on informed analysis, rather than something that's about as informative as a post-game interview in suits.

I don't even look at those lists. Most times they are made by a fan of the number 1 guy's team

How can this list have any credibility when they rank a player on it who didnt play last year. Peyton Manning can be put on an all time best list but not on a top 100 list of players who played the 2011 season...

Because that's not what it is?

It's supposed to be a list of who the top 100 players are going to be next year. That's why it has 2012 right in the title. Unfortunately, NFL Network thinks it's funny to tell everybody something different when they ask criteria is different, and then fill all their "debate" time arguing about criteria instead of something that makes sense. You can even hear the producer interviewing the players. Sometimes the player asks a question along the lines of "you mean last year?" and the producer says, "Right now." That is so freaking subjective. Right now like, right now? Well, Aaron Rodgers is sleeping, so he's off the list... I think if someone hears "right now" then they will likely go to last year, like you did Diamond, which will automatically mess things up. Then you have people that are going to vote for the career no matter what even if they suck or are average now (see Ray Lewis coming in at #4 overall last year, or Donovan McNabb at #100, even though he'd already been benched in favor of Rex Grossman and basically booted out of the league).

Then you get to have a debate for another hour about where people should have been ranked, but you might as well be speaking different languages because you're all talking about different stuff. Take the Ben vs. Eli debate, for example. Tons of people are outraged that Ben is higher. Tons of people think that's fair. Well, let's look at it. Obviously Ben has been better throughout his career. Obviously Eli did better in 2011. So who should be higher on this list? Uhh... it should be whoever is going to do better next year. You know, like a guess! You have to look at 2012 rosters, schedules, defenses... If Eli keeps playing like last year, it could easily be him. But he lost some players on offense (and gained some). If you ask me, Ben should do better this year than last year, so he could easily be higher too.

This isn't just opinions on the past, it's mostly guesses on the future. At least, that's how it's supposed to be. Realistically, couldn't Andrew Luck have been somewhere on this list? Or David DeCastro? Sounds ridiculous, but I don't think anyone would argue with Cam Newton being on last year's list. Not if they knew the criteria. Yes, the dumbasses that don't follow the criteria would be up in arms, but then maybe at least we'd all understand the criteria. That's not how it's executed at all, and that's the problem.
