But you always do? It probably won't be an issue, but damn man you're constant Tomlin defense is exhausting.

Maybe we did and he chose to sign elsewhere.

I found it interesting the Zeirlein of NFL.com compared Howell and Corral to Mayfield and Dalton. If that is the case, I would not draft a QB in round 1.

    I've been saying this.
Everyone but Pickett ( if he goes 2 right spot)....is a 2nd round, and down pick.

I've heard the comparison of Howell to Mayfield quite a bit. Of course, I have no idea if Howell has the same lack of maturity, which is a big part of what holds Mayfield back.

I haven't seen enough of Corral to know if the Dalton comparisons are true, but this does all seem as if we are seeing second-round talents being propped up as first-round picks because this draft class of quarterbacks is so weak. There was a time that the league would actually go the entire first round without anybody drafting a quarterback. In 1984, the first quarterback taken was Boomer Esiason, and he went in the second round. The regular first-round had no quarterbacks in 1985. Bernie Kosar was taken with a supplemental first-rounder. Randall Cunningham was taken in the second round that year. After that, the next quarterback taken was Frank Reich with the first selection of the third round. Only one quarterback went in the first round in 1986, Jim Everett.

Of course, the game is very different now. Cunningham would have been a top-10 pick today. He was actually a better prospect than Malik Willis, with some of the same concerns. I'm guessing Esiason would have been bumped up into the first round, too. Kosar might have actually fallen a bit because he looked so damn awkward and teams seem so locked in on athletes who can throw rather than focusing on passing skills first.

I've said this all along. I would take Pickett at 20, but I really think they should pass on any other quarterback that falls to them. Of course, we all know they won't pass on Willis, but I'm not a fan.

or they will pass on him, let some team with a bad track record draft him and break him then three years from now when he is in the wind Tomlin will bring him in to get that itch scratched

I actually think even Pickett should be nothing more than a 2nd Rd talent. Corrall, and Howell as well. Then there's Willis, whom probably has the highest ceiling, but he's the least refined of the group. He's less refined than Kordell Stewart, at this stage; Willis has a 2.5 QBR when under pressure for crying out loud. One can argue the receivers he's throwing to, but it's not like he was throwing against potential NFL caliber DBs either. I don't see Willis being more than a 4th round prospect than won't be heard from again, because he'll get drafted by a franchise like Washington, and scrapped by the end of year two like they did Haskins.

Go after Peppers. I don’t know why it didn’t quote the original post. People constantly ask “why didn’t we go after XYZ…?” Or “we could’ve offered that deal”. Just because we don’t sign someone doesn’t mean we didn’t explore it.

Typical board reaction to your post will be that they know that no attempt was made because player X did not mysteriously appear in Pittsburgh for some nondescript function thus fueling the rumored interest.

Please exhibit A on these as the Honey Badger tweets Tomlin called him. Rumor mill is off and running on that one.

The last two mocks I looked at had no QB's in Rd 1 (Frelund and Brooks). They had Raimann and Dotson going at 20, respectively. I like the idea of going offense in Rd 1 but not over-drafting a QB. Maybe if one you like falls far enough see if you can get them in Rd 2.

You really think the Steelers would pass on Willis if he was still on the board, to take a WR?

They can find receivers in the second round, and in the third, also in the fourth round.
