I'm trying to remember when the "try is over when the defense gains possesion of the ball" came into effect.

I thought I used to see teams run those back. I think that would be cool as hell if they changed it to at least on the 2 point tries. I think if you want to go for 2 ad it gets picked off, the defense should be able to grab those 2 points by a sucessful return of 100 yards. Even a fumble.

For a regular FG the other team can run it back. Sometimes for really long FGs you'll see a guy in the end zone just for this purpose. But not on extra points.

I don`t know, but, I agree it would add some spice to the game.
And if it was up to me, I would include point after attempts!
They have taken enough away from the defense, recentley.
Wouldn`t hurt to give them a little somethin back, in return.
Also, I`m not sure, I might have been too young to trust my memory, but I think you`re right... Those DID used to be returnable. :hmmm:

Yeah, I agree. Since there are points that are available, those points should be available to both teams, just like on every other play. If the offence can get the points, why not the defence?

I agree that the defense should be able to get points on those plays, like the offense can, but I'm trying to remember when that was ever the case. Wasn't it always this way? Maybe you're thinking of college?

I don't ever remember it being any different than it currently is.

I might be thinking of college. I can't put a time stamp on it, but I thought I remembered a team getting points from a INT on a 2 point try and the announcers arguing over wether it was a 1 or a 2 pt play.

I can say with full certainty that the current format has always been in effect. Although the NFL changed the rules in '94 to include a 2 point conversion option for the offense, it never gave the defense a chance to score on either a PAT or 2 point play. You guys are thinking of college.

I like the way it is in college. I think that even happened in a college game last week.

Let the Defense be able to score on the "Point-After-Attempt!"
