Steelers still get the Pats, as they play the AFC East. Also will get Indy and KC (right now - could change to Denver and Houston). Also get the NFC East.

10-6 and have to hope the Jags beat the Titans in week 17 to get the 6th seed!

Well if Tomlin is still coach they are good for at least 4 losses to the NFC Least

probably lose the tiebreaker to those two
because luck would have tweaked something ,hasslebeck will be dinged up and their emergency qb comes in and torches our defense
while the jags and titans sweep the colts with Luck playing.

Not to mention that Bellicheat will conspire with Jerry Jones and Tom Coughlin to tie each other twice so the Titans will get that 6th seed by beating Tampa by more than 40 points!

I hear Brady will be bruised up and Jim Plunket will come out of retirement and beat us.

Well considering the Steelers record against sub .500 teams, they'll lose 3 of 4 to the NFC East, lose to the Phins and lose both games to the Ravens and of course they generally lose to the Pats, so it's 9-7.

I looked ahead to next seasons schedule as well, not a good sign this late in the season. Had the Steelers beaten Baltimore I would have never even thought to look at it.

Yes it sucks to say that history is a great predictor of the future. If we could only channel certain parts of history to repeat we might have some hope. Might have to sh*t-can a few of the constants in order for select variables to take over and alter the result. :hmm:

We have to play the Patriots so often, we should move to the AFC east!

Actually probably quite the opposite - MT tends to win the meaningless games (see: NFC West except for Seattle, which we should have won, but he took that away, too)

Unless our secondary gets a huge upgrade through the draft or FA, I will say another 9-7 campaign. You can't rely on the offense every game to score 30 points against NFL defenses. Last week proved that.

Rumor has it that Belichick is going to have Goddell realign the Pats to the AFC West so he can avoid the Steelers next year.

Y aren't we in the afc east
    Indy in afc north
    And Miami in afc south?

Using that logic, the Ravens would be the team in the AFCE since Baltimore is further east than Pittsbugh.

But to answer your question, before there were 4 divisions, there was no North or South, it was the AFC Central and they wanted to keep long time rivals together.

Ugh... Too many games against teams that will finish below .500 this year. That's scary...

Three reasons and two of them are related Owners and money, the third being rivalries which helps the first two. When the AFL and NFL merged the only way Cleveland would go to the new AFC was if Pittsburgh went too to preserve the rivalry. When Model moved them to Baltimore to become the Ravens that became the new rivalry but the deal still stands for the Browns. Now the Browns haven't been good since they have been back but no one wants to let that rivalry die. It is just to lucrative to all involved to keep those big games twice a year. It is the same with the NFC East with the Giants, Skins, Cowboys and Eagles. The games are too big and too much money to be made to split up the division. New England probably wouldn't mind moving but they have a cake walk division right now so why mess with it.
