Ive just read on NFL.com that the Steelers announced the signings of two former Birmingham Iron players -- center J.C. Hassenauer and defensive back Jack Tocho -- on Friday to one-year contracts. Hassenauer spent time in the Falcons' organization before moving on to the AAF's Iron, while Tocho was drafted by the Vikings in 2017 and moved on to the Redskins.

Thoughts on these guys making any sort of a splash on the 53?

The AAF is apparently already done, that was quick.

Yeah there is more going on behind the scenes than they are making public. Sounds like the owner of the Carolina Hurricane's who was bank rolling the league was trying to strong arm the NFL to get a deal for practice squad guys but when he couldn't he took his ball and went home.

Training camp bodies no doubt. Obviously they made enough of an impression to earn a chance. Best of luck to those guys.

Possibly a slightly better chance than any other UDFA.

The NFL monopoly continues. Next victim,,,,,XFL next year. What a joke. You would have thought they would have known about the NFLPA stance on players or at least did their due diligence before investing millions. Dumb. As for the now unemployed players being picked up by Colbert, its up to them to make a name for themselves because I have no clue who they are.

Casey sayles was signed. He was in camp last year. He played at Ohio u. He played pretty well. I thought he had a chance to stick on the 53. With LT Walton gone, he could make some noise for a backup role. He was pretty good at ou.

Can't help but think that maybe the Taxi Squad issue is just a Red Herring and that the real cause of the demise is the paltry attendances at these games and low TV viewerships (hence low commercial revenues). I've seen HS FB games draw more people which is probably where these game should have been staged rather than at 60,000 seat stadiums. As much as I wanted it to succeed and looked forward to watching, the games just seemed so hollow with the empty stands and the anti-climatic start of every new series on the 25 YL.

Didn't Manziel win more than 1 game?

Hard to know, with how many 1-15 seasons the Browns have racked up over the years on their way to the SB.

I would call them camp bodies, but until I see more, the defensive back (already forgot his name) has as much chance as anyone except Joe. Yes, I'm just kidding but not really.
