New Member- Glad to Be Here

Hi-

Like many people it already seems, I am one of the members of the "old/official" board and have found my way here.

My username and avatar is a tribute to my friend Jimmy Allen, who played safety and CB for the Steelers from 1974-1977 and later for the Detroit Lions. Jimmy is a great person and it is a thrill to personally know a player from one of those great teams.

I have been a Steelers fan since 1972, when I was a kid in New Jersey. The Giants and Jets were both bad, and Franco Harris was a local hero because of the Immaculate Reception- and that was all it took. 39 years later, I still live and die with my favorite team.

I consider myself a sort of Steelers historian- at least of the time when I was a fan. I own a complete run of media guides back to 1973, part of a vast Steelers memorabillia collection that perhaps I will describe in greater detail if anyone is every interested.

I live in Vermont where there are at least 2 Steelers bars (although I watch at home on Direct TV) and not everyone is a Patriots fan, rest assured. Speaking of which, if the Steelers are playing the Patriots in 2 weeks I hope to be in attendance.

Would love to hear about your co llection as well. Seems like VT is far enough from Boston that you could actually find the occassional non pats fan. That is cool!
