mr. pouncey will be the new standard.

what i mean is, (and huge snack will just say i have it out for him :) but,) i think the whole attitude will change on this O-line. the weekly attitude and the offseason attitude.

instead of the big, lazy, gain weight attitude that was around between max and kemoeatu translated through our linemen the last few years, and it wasen't just those two, but they were the leaders. all of our linemen had guts hanging over and they were slow and seemed like they were just going through the motions to me. i think that all changes now. pouncey has been here long enough now that his leadership and habits will be the new norm amongst our linemen.

i can see changes happening. gilbert looks firm, pouncey is a big reason for that. essex has seen the change he needed to make to keep up with whats about to take place with this unit. colon has been working hard to get back. decastro is a workout guy. it has to benifit adams to be around this group. legursky is a workout warrior.

i think this attitude these young linemen bring to the group will change the whole thinking that's been prevalent around here far to long. this is another reason i don't want starks back as a crutch. i like this new attitude to working out that these guys bring and our line will be far better for it. i'll take big,fit and smart over big, fat, lazy and smart. (ok,exclude kemoeatu in that last statement.) maybe ziggy and mclendon will improve the d-line like that for years to come too. we will be a much better team for it.

I agree that there'll be a new ethic on the line. This is Pouncey's chance to take charge, and I get the sense that Decastro is cut from a very similar cloth with respect to work habits and attitude.

Though I always got the impression that Colon was the leader of the line in past seasons... not sure why, just remember seeing a few films and such that gave me that idea.

colons been hurt the last two years. he's been around, but it needed to come from a starter. max has been the highest paid and one of the oldest members of this line. his work habits have been questioned in the past and the whole line looked like that. pouncey excluded. not to mention gilbert was said to be a little lazy early in camp last year and pouncey let him have it. i can see this bunch gelling on and off the field, with a will to be the top dogs in the league. pouncey, decastro will lead i think, colon has had to work hard for two years to come back and he may be a vocal leader. i expect some of these others will feed off of these guys leadership qualities.

Pouncey and Decastro are the key, they also are the most talented
if they can get these other less fortunate players to buy in and work
on getting better, than we may have something.

While I agree that Pouncey will be the leader for the current O-line, each individual must follow that lead. To blame Starks for the overall conditioning of the past O-lines is a bit self-serving however. It comes down to an improvement in talent, work ethic and football IQ in my opinion. The future O-line has loads of potential. I can't wait to see this group in action..

58, i'm not so sure it's a matter of blaming starks for the overall conditioning as much as it is his work ethic and desire,or lack there of, to be the best he could be that was followed as the leader of the o-line. for as smart as max is, his effort in training was never high, and i think that set the pace for the rest of the line for a few years now. that all is about to change.
