I'm guessing you're joking, but please no. The game has already been slowed down enough.

I would be in favor of certain calls being able to be challenged. I do agree that I don't want the game slowed down and I think to offset that they should just make things the way they used to be and not "review" all scores and turnovers and leave it up to coaches to challenge them. Would you not consider that to be a fair compromise?

I'd make a true risk/reward type thing not just this lose a timeout that most teams blow off anyway. Challenge and win get the ball advanced 15 yards challenge and lose should be loss of down and lose 15 yards that way you force them to be serious on challenges.

Personally, I'm tired of all the scores and turnovers being automatically reviewed. Take the Brown TD, that was called back to the 1. IMHO, it's a balls and strike thing. There's a human element to it. If they ref called it, in the middle of the field, then it should stand. Allow the other team to challenge it.

PI, and personal foul calls for hits should be AUTOMATICALLY reviewed upstairs. Just as all plays are when under 2 minutes.

I'm not saying the long, drawn out replays everyone sees. I'm talking about the quick, "let's take a look at this. Hmmmm... looks close, now call for official review."

Those 2 types of penalties swing games far too easily to NOT make them reviewable. Leave the coaches out of it - for now. Just have someone upstairs give it a second glance and if he thinks it should be reviewed, the refs go into official review.

And incidental, glancing/grazing helmet to helmet contact should not be a penalty.

And simplify the rulebook a bit. PI: illegal contact with a player attempting to make a catch while the ball is in the air. Period. What's illegal contact? Any contact that prevents the player from making the catch before he touches it. Feet got tangled up? Too bad. PI. Play smarter next time. Only allowable contact is if you yourself have a legitimate chance at catching the ball and are in the process of attempting to.

I'd say the majority of personal fouls would almost always offset since they always seem to catch "the second guy".

Something's need further review... If not simpler rule clarification. How many times (outside of our games) was the analyst ref disagreeing with his brethren on the field? It was an epidemic this year. Nothing will be perfect per se nor should we expect that, but some stuff was outright ludicrous this year. Saturday's loss withstanding, many many questionable calls and many more non calls... Things smell funny and something has to be done. I'm getting tired of tangled feet excusing forearms to the back savvy?

I really like this idea. Have someone "upstairs" take a look at all the big penalties and determine if they are legit or not. Should be able to make a determination in under 45 seconds if it's worthy or taking a closer look or not. If the call for review doesn't come in before the next play, too bad. If reviewed and the call gets overturned, it's a negative mark for the ref, get too many negative marks, and remedial training or something is involved (demotion or losing job is a drastic, far-flung last step.) That would hopefully prevent the refs from being too flag-happy, knowing that every call would be reviewed at least on a glance.

I think the biggest improvement would be simplifying the rulebook in order to give the refs a fighting chance of not looking like clowns out there.

Actually in todays NFL, you could take the referee's completely off the field with all of the technology that is available. Every play would be an instant review. There are 4 dimensional TV's available right now and will be very common place in the not so distant future. Any flags would be shown on the video screen and any coaches challenge can be based off of that.

Heck, we're all referee's in our minds just watching Hi Def.

I'd hate to see it go that route but the clowns on the field certainly aint getting it right several times a game, multiple times per week and hundreds of times per season.

Think of how much more open space there would be and Roger Gooddell and his minions would probably fully support it cause scoring would go up double digits.

I'd like to believe this is far fetched but how much have we seen football change over the past 3 decades?

I like it too. In the NHL they have people in Ontario monitoring all games. When there is a questionable call, the refs make the call to them and its decided if its correct or not in less than two minutes in most cases.

They have Refs in NY doing that now in the NFL but, just think, since there are so many questionable calls that would be 2 more minutes of "Papa Johns", "Discount double check" and"Nationwide" commercials!!!!!!!!

I could deal with those. It's the "No More" commercials that are extremely condescending and self righteous. I HATE those commercials and actually get flat out irritated when they come on. The worst one is that stupid thing where they all just look at the camera and act like they can't talk and you hear every breath in their chest cavity and like the spit in their mouth as they swallow. That's incredibly annoying to me because I can't STAND hearing people breathe! Also extreme silence is also really annoying. I could see those commercials actually CAUSING domestic violence because they are so dang annoying! LOL!
