Our run defense are missing two players ... Timmons and Deebo. One , we can't get back...and the other...they won't let him get on the field

After just watching playbook on a clip on NFL network I have to say one of the huge reasons they are giving up yardage in the run game is the play of Shazier and Williams at ILB. They are either guessing the wrong play, not maintaining gap integrity, or being too over aggressive and jumping into a gap and allowing cut backs. So yes Bowman would sure that up, not so good in coverage but stout against the run.

I agree. Shazier seems to be out of position to make a tackle more than not. He bites too hard, guessing wrong (like you said). It's great when he gets it right, but big runs and 90 yard gallops when he doesn't.

We don't need new players on D, we need the players we have to be better playing in unison.

Isn't it funny for years and all preseason we have been complaining about the secondary. Now they are losing to teams who won't even throw. I honestly think it's one of those things where we are slightly worse in the run game but improved in defending the pass. All the Super Bowl contenders are pass heavy so I don't think it's an issue. If they were worried they would just play Harrison.

49ers cut him because he's horrible in coverage and was missing a lot of tackles. We don't need him.

I agree, and Butler even commented on Shazier needing to guess less. Williams isn't so good against the pass either, so no big deal subbing Bowman in for him. Bowman was an all pro as recently as 2015, and he's under 30. I haven't watched much of him recently, so I don't have a great feel for whether he'd be an upgrade, but I'm not really liking VW as a starter.

He would be great here but wasn't he let go cause of locker room problems? I am not sure what his deal is but if he and the coach/ownership are having problems do we really want that here no matter how much he could help us?

I for one have never been a VW fan so seeing him not as a starter would not hurt my feelings but I just worry about bring this guy in to an already shaky locker room.

I wanted Bowman in the draft but we took Sanders instead. Bowman is a very good LB and would be a good fit on this team.

My understanding was that the Niners have basically decided that this year is a write off so they are trying to get as many of the young guys in to gain experience so Bowman as if he could seek a trade and when they didn't get any takers he talked to Lynch and asked for his release. If he goes completely mercenary then its possible he goes to New England

I doubt locker room problems would be a deal breaker for this team.

With the new defense under Kyle Shanahan, their LBers run more and they wanted to take Bowman out a series or two during the games to save his legs. He disagreed with that. So I think it was more a competitor not acknowledging that he has aged. Doesn't seem to be anything with his teammates. They want to move Reuben Foster into that role anyway, so his playing time would have been reduced that way too.

he is good but he aint no TP. When Troy would guess he was more often then not right on his guess. He had explosive closing speed as well which I will give credit to Shazier. He is extremely fast in pursuit. Problem is he is quick at over pursuing as well lol

One of the clips they showed Shazier and Williams were supposed to be responsible for watching the A gap and flowing to the ball carrier should they get past the NT. For some strange reason Shazier follows Dupree on the edge on what would be a great instinctual play if they were pass rushing but in run stuffing it was wrong as VW took the first gap he saw and got gobbled up on the block.
