There's no guarantee that the running game would be remarkably better moving forward had the Steelers drafted o-line heavy this year. There are no guarantees in anything. "Yeah, but" arguments are for self important posers that think they know better than an organization that is widely regarded as one of the finest in all of professional athletics. It is simply pure entertainment to lampoon the truly rotten picks, same as it is to celebrate the exceptional ones. But, to continually argue as if one knows better frankly borders on pathetic.

I don't see the Steelers going after Rodgers. The money Rodgers would command if he is leaving the Packers is the type of move an organization makes going all in for the short term and being haunted by for a good 4-5 years afterward.

Nothing is guaranteed ever, but the best way to build a run game is to build the foundation first. The Steelers invested first round draft capital in a RB to run behind a young, struggling OL with an immobile QB who can't throw downfield accurately, a rookie OL coach, and a rookie OC.

They'd better get the rest of it sorted soon, before they run his wheels off.

I don't know that they'll run his wheels off. It would serve them to get Ballage more involved, to be honest. As far as sorting out the o-line, you are 100% correct. Find the best, healthiest five man unit you have and get them some reps together.

They were never going to draft a CB in the first round, drafting Humphrey in the 2nd and taking another RB in the mid rounds wasn't going to improve the running game as Art ll told them to.

Harris was one of the top 20 players in this draft. Newsome wasn't even a first-rounder on some boards, but the Maddog is criticizing the Steelers for not reaching for him.

Not according to everyone. Lack of home run speed is one issue. He's also 23 already with a lot of miles from college - pretty much a one contract guy.

    It’s well over the border.

    On a lighter side:

A German went to France for holiday and here is the scene, French border staff: Occupation? German: No, no, no, just visiting.

First you criticized the Steelers for not drafting OL in round one, but you couldn't come up with a player who was worthy of going at #24, now it's they should've drafted a CB .

Pick BPA who isn't a RB, just don't pick a RB on a team lacking a QB and OL and CBs and ILBs and...

It was bad team building. i don't expect homers and fan boys to understand.

I don't expect trolls to understand when the owner says fix the running game, you do as you're told, Harris was the best value at #24 get over it.

From what we have seen from Benny Snell this year we made the right call in drafting Najee Harris in the 1st!

Maybe the Chiefs should've drafted a defensive player instead of Humphrey, their OL still stinks .

You call anybody who dares to disagree with you a homer and a fanboy. By the way, that is redundant. It is yet another example of your poor writing skills. You should work on that.

Nobody is having a problem understanding your point. You don't know the game nearly well enough to comment with such arrogance. But let's stick to you trying to put those labels on me. I have ripped the Steelers for years over the Edmunds pick. I have been critical of other selections and roster moves, too. The label simply doesn't fit, but you keep putting it out there because you would rather engage in illogical name-calling than stick to the discussion at hand.

Hell, I'm even criticizing the choice of Freiermuth over Humphrey even though the former looks like he is going to help the team. I just think they needed Humphrey more.

You simply aren't understanding the way the Steelers approached the draft. The offensive linemen who were a good value at that spot were gone, but they knew the draft was deep at the position, so they waited. Once it was clear that taking a linemen there could be characterized as reaching, you switched to talking about Newsome, who would have also been a bit of a reach. I wouldn't have hated the pick, but to say he would have clearly been a better choice shows your lack of understanding of drafting for value.

The Steelers thought they could get their offensive linemen later. They had guys they liked, such as Green. When you have many positions to address, you have to look at where the value is in a draft and where the depth might be.

One more flaw in your argument is this implication that running back is the only position you can fill with late picks and undrafted free agents. You can get help on the offensive line that way, too. Sure, the Steelers had first-round building blocks like DeCastro and Pouncey, but they also had free agents such as Villanueva and Foster.

I think you lost his narrative. He was saying it should have been Newsome, but he backed away from that once I pointed out that Harris was consistently rated ahead of Newsome.

If you understand positional value in today's game, and the fungibility of RBs, it's makes perfect sense.

Who should they have gotten to be their running back? You have already told us that no other player currently on the roster is a viable option.

Amazing How a Newly made O-Line affects more than Just Ben isn't it.
If Mahomes was a Steeler people would be calling for His head....
I can Hear some now...with charts, PFF quotes, and saying... how can he not score against a team that lost 2 the Lowly Jets. LoL.
Amazing what a bad O-line can do 2 any Qb.
