Good fit for him and for them, hope this means that's one less team taking those nice RBs in this draft

Crap I am going to have to eat crow on Najee with the Charges drafting the best Bell-Cow running back in the draft.

Najee will be lucky to get more than 5 carries a game with Omarion Hampton on the roster.

Perhaps, or perhaps they use both for a year, then let him take over once Harris's one-year deal is done.

Yeah Harris could easily impress enough teams that he gets a solid deal after his one year gig. Harbaugh may use both and they have a solid run game.

Wow, the chargers pick Hampton ... what does that say for Najee?!

Maybe, but if you have a thoroughbred and a draft horse, who is out there more on race day?

Fair chance they use both, but now that they have both it is unlikely Najee is going to put up the numbers to get a mega contract in his next agreement (which is why I think he signed a 1 yr prove it deal).

I think that is a given with the way the position has been devalued over the years. I dont think an even adequate runningback can expect beyond a 3yr deal and that they will see that full 3 years.

Hampton will definitely be the starter for the Chargers but I'm guessing Najee will do everything he can to hurdle him

Every day the decision to not give Najee the 5th looks smarter and smarter

No NFL GM has much faith in him

That leaves 2 people here out of 8.062 Billion

I'm glad we didn't have any compensatory value based on performance with him. He's probably going to be largely their mop-up guy. Which he should be good at.

Hampton is a three down guy. He's actually really good pass blocker from what I've read. I wouldn't be shocked if the Chargers actually double dipped at rb with this draft class. They really had NOTHING behind Najee before Omarian. I could see them grabbing a change of pace guy like Blue, B. Smith, or Etienne.

I think he will use both, but I doubt Harris is going to be more than a journeyman from here on out. With this pick, I think he would be more useful to the Steelers had they kept him than he will be to the Chargers.

The Steelers still need a running back, and the combination with Warren would have gotten rid of that need for a team with many holes to fill.

They clearly didnt think he was worth the money and Chargers clearly don’t think much of him by the contract he got and the drafting of Hampton.

Or they know they only have him for one year, at which point he will have a lot of mileage on him, and they can go from splitting the job in 2025 to turning it fully over to Hampton in 2026. I never advocated for keeping him beyond 2025. In fact, I argued the opposite.

I'm not sure it is a strike against Harris.
Harbaugh is most definitely going to run the ball. I think everyone better get used to that in Charger-land.
So he has a good stable of horses.
He got Harris (the Vet for a year, with something to prove) and he's now got Hampton.

The Chargers are team to watch, they got to the playoffs with a lot of holes in that roster after trimming the fat out.
Now he's got a decent base and a front office to support.
Can't say he's going to win it all, but I expect a more physical team.
